Exactly, why would we get rid of Manny at the point he has become a financial bargain. You trade a player of Manny's caliber if you are looking to rebuild. With a rotation of Beckett, Matuszaka, Schilling, Papelbon and possibly Clemens, you are looking at a stacked team that needs to shore up it's bullpen and get one more bat to make a sreious run. Trading Manny would disembowel the team for a couple of years.

NAme me a hitter other than Pujols who is tied up by the Cardinals that could possibly replace Manny. I think you may be overlooking his place in the history of this game. It would take two good hitters to replace what Manny means to the Red Sox lineup.

Definitely not the closer we are looking for, but we need more than a closer. Borowski could share seventh and eith inning duties.

The difference to me is that Seanez has never been any good under pressure. Let's face it, if Seanez had pitched for Boston any where close to his stats from his prior two years we would have been happy. I think Borowski can handle the pressure of Boston and the AL and pitch close to his prior stats. I pick Borowski hands down, regardless of the stats.

I think he is significantly better than Seanez. Seanez could not be trusted in any high pressure spot. Borowski has been a closer with moderate success at times. He doesn't spit the bit and choke like Seanez.

I agree, but I hope Theo starts making some moves before more guys get picked off. That will drive up the price on the remaining guys, and the FO will start looking at waiver wires and garbage heaps for the likes of Seanez like last year.

That's a great idea. I hope it gets some traction and the FO takes notice.

They can always trade him after 4 or 5 years and eat some money. If he has a catastrophic injury, I am sure the contract is insured. Length of contract doesn't bother me that much with a consistent performer like Soriano. If they get 3 or 4 good years out of him before he declines, it's not the worse thing, unless he falls off the proverbial cliff.
