My recollection of that episode is that Contreras wanted to play for the Yankees. There wasn't much they could do about that. I don't remember that they got their final offer on the table.

Excuses and rationalizations.

That's ridiculous for this piece of trash.

Wecome. Don't be deterred by the obnoxious Yankee trash that visit here.

Matsuzak is the only bid that JH wanted to win. Apparently, they didn't care if Damon re-signed. I can't think of any other instance where JH got outbid by George for aplayer JH really wanted. BTW: Matsuzaka was the whole centerpiece of NY's offseason plan. Too bad.

Fred you must still be on some Dice-k high or rush. A couple of days before he signed you were out on a ledge ready leap. Now you are brimming with confidence that the midget second baseman with no plus skills and a sub-Mendoza line BA with 91ML ABs is ready for the full time job with no contingency plan. There's an available all star second baseman with a low price tag. I think you pick him up, and if the midgedt is as good as some of you think he is, he should do well enough to send the veteran packing.

Then bring in someone to platoon with Pedroia, but he should not be handed the full-time job.

What is the word on Loretta? Does he have an offers on the table? If his price is low enough, they should re-sign him.

From today's Boston Globe: The Sox are looking for a safety net in case the kid flops.

Comon Jackson, pick it up. We'll tolerate poor quality posts from our brethren Red Sox fans, but Yankee fans with a patter of poor quality posts will be abused.

...or maybe he will be a mix of Mike Benjamin and Mike Lansing.

Not only don't I want to see Hinske in the starting lineup, I am hoping he is not even on the bench.

It's been good work by the FO in the Fall. There are a couple of spots to strengthen during the winter before ST. Obviously, a closer is needed, and I'd like to see one more quality arm in the pen. Also, I'd like to see a more potent stick at first base. BTW: Last summer the Phillies were shopping Tom "Flash" Gordon. Has anyone heard about the Phillies plans for him. He'd slot nicely into the closer's role.
