    I never watch a game where the opposition can put together a consistent offense against Wang. He doesn't hurt himself with walks and batters just cannot seem to make solid contact against the guy.

    El Duque has put on a nice hanging curve clinic tonight. Randolph left him in until he was well-done and the game was lost. I guess he learned to sleep on the bench and sit on his hands while studying under Torre.

    I think players, GMs, and other baseball people acknowledge that certain players can't take the heat of the bright lights in NY and Boston. This is similar to pitchers that can pitch in the 7th or 8th but can't close out a game. The 9th is only 3 outs, but they are the hardest 3 outs for any pitcher. Is it because the batters are better in the 9th? No. The ballparks don't shrink in the 9th, nor does the strike zone. They are the toughest three outs because of the pressure, and many successful pitchers have been unable to succeed in that role.

    Pena is hitting under .230. He has power, but usually against mediocre pitchers. Top pitchers eat him alive. We sacrifice fielding and speed when he is in the lineup. Ellsbury should be brought up. It couldn't underperform WMP by very much.

    I never quest ion anything he does at the plate, because he is a heitting genius. He's up there with the all time greats for consistency and productivity.

    But why sit him the day after he gets two knocks against a pitcher that gave up only 3 or 4 all day. He may be geting hot and he's benched?

    We can hope, but he has not been able to be consistent in the majors. They can give MDC a look, but if he starts to get tuned up like he did last year and in ST, they'll need to explore trade possibilities.

    If Donnelly is down for a prolonged period beyond the 15 days, they are going to start looking for another reliable arm in the bullpen. MDC is not the answer.

    1-0 Mets after the top of the first inning. Clippard walked Reyes (huge mistake) who stole second and scored on a single by Wright.

    WMP's salary is little more than the league average, so replacing him would not be a big deal.

    Robert's patience and professionalism has paid off for him. He's not a very good every day starting OF, but his professionalism and positive attitude help his marketability to teams. Teams know that they are not getting a problem with Dave Roberts. Payton, on the other hand, is an *******. If he'd had some patience in 2005, he have gotten around 400+ ABs, because of the injuries to Nixon, and after Damon left, he'd have gotten the starting CF job by default. He might still be our CF today if he had the right attitude.

    There's absolutely no reason not to give Ellsbury a shot. If he completely bombs out, we are in the same position that we were before with Crisp and WMP. I'd bring him up immediately.
