Tonight we are making things happen with singles and speed. You can’t always bludgeon with HRs. You have to find other ways to produce runs. -

Last year, he didn't have so many bags of garbage in the bullpen. Playing for the long run and October is misguided when you are in 3 place treading .500. That being said, the hitting and the offense needs to start getting more consistent and find ways t get runs in. Last year, they could bludgeon teams with Home Runs, single and double them to death or force defenses into mistakes with their base running -- steals and hit and run. They are not putting pressure on defenses.

He k'd 3 or 4 times last week in the game against the Rangers that we won with the Mookie walk off walk.

I remember Yaz striking out 3 times against Tommy John late in his career. I saw Tommy John at the Auto Show in NYC after that and I told him that he shouldn't have done that to the great Yaz. He looked at me and said, "don't worry, I don't think that will ever happen again." Yaz didn't K a lot for a Home Run hitter. He has one of the better HR to K ratios in history I believe. Joe D had the best. I think that he homered as often as he k'd.
