  1. Give it to the end of the season. And then we can revisit.
  2. if his arm strength and stamina are not sufficient to start, he’s probably not ready to close.
  3. Trade him before he declines!
  4. I haven’t asked for Max to clarify anything.
  5. Worst bullpen in baseball--even worse than ours, although I would love to have Diaz. Last season and this season, the team has a disgraceful losing record when deGrom pitches.
  6. Thanks for clarifying. Carry on.
  7. Never forget what the Mets are. And Vargas is a pig.
  8. I am looking to see if there is a duh emoji.
  9. I think you missed the point of the ellipsis by the illinois.
  10. If by "lawyering," you mean taking a consistent logical and well-supported position, then you would be right.
  11. The mistake will never be publicly acknowledged in a statement by the Red Sox organization, but it will be acknowledged in deed by ramping up the pitchers next spring training. I'll guarantee you that.
  12. And the pen will blow the game if we have less than a 5 run lead. It's a strong possibility.
  13. Not at all. I said that they are and will continue to perform at career norms.
  14. Or the explanation could be that Max never finds fault with any Red Sox manager even when they have made a clear and obvious mistake.
  15. I disagree. I think that Sale and Price are and will continue perform to expectations and career norms for the remainder of the season. I think ERod is having a better than career norm season. He's going deeper into games more often than last year, and I think his other numbers will fall into career norms or better. We have taken this about as far as it can go. We can revisit my projection at the end of the season to see if I was right. In the meantime, there are glaring needs in the bullpen whether or not Eovaldi closes, and if Eovaldi closes, we have a rotation hole that needs to be filed. We also need Cora to stop clinging to certain lineups that are not producing. It took forever for him to move Devers to the top of the order and drop Beni to the bottom half. Unless Betts finds some consistency soon, he needs to go down in the order too.
  16. I stand by my assertion, and find your argument unconvincing. Edit: The reason that I kept asking you to explain your position was because I thought you had an alternate theory. It turned out that you didn't and that your only point was to poke holes in my theory.
  17. Over the 2 month period since they rounded into shape, the numbers show that Sale, Price and ERod are right around their career norms, and I expect that will continue throughout the remainder of the season (barring injury). My theory is that their performance at the beginning of the season was far below the norms, because they were not ready for the season to start. I thought that you had a theory explaining the drop in performance that was different than mine. I didn't realize that you were just looking to contradict my theory without an alternative explanation. Either way, your argument hasn't persuaded me, especially without an alternative explanation.
  18. The 30 games in the period that I chose were contiguous at the beginning of the season over 5 week period which was identical to the resting period during spring training. My point is that the first 5 weeks of the regular season were needed for the pitchers to round into shape when that should have been done during spring training. IMO, the delay negatively affected the performance of the starting pitchers for the first 5 weeks. I think Sale,Price and ERod are back to normal. For the decision to rest them to payoff, I think that their September performance will have to exceed last September's numbers to the same extend that this April's numbers fell short of last April's number. You don't need to dumb anything down for me, and I don't see the need for your to be insulting. So, the numbers of late have been been worse than you would have expected despite the rest. You are still not saying what that indicates to you. That is what I am asking. What is the reason in your mind for this dropoff that you are observing?
  19. With 1 out and a man on third, being down 5 runs in the 9th inning, getting on base is paramount. Getting the guy in from 3rd with an out is meaningless, except for padding stats.
  20. I agree with being patient with Beni. I would leave him on the field and in the lineup, but Cora waited to long to switch Devers to the top of the lineup -- and moving Beni to the bottom half of the lineup.
  21. My date very closely approximates the time of the delay in the start date for the starting pitchers, and I think demonstrates the negative effect of Cora's decision. What is your point in showing "what have you done for me lately?" Is it to show that the starters suck? Is it to show that they are not trying? Is it to show that the resting didn't work and that they are already tiring? Or is it something else?
  22. The Yankees are playing the pathetic Mets. If we don’t go 5-1, we could lose ground.
  23. And Spring Training started in the last week of February. Excluding the stats up to May 1st is equal to the period that the Starters were in Dry Dock from the beginning of Spring Training. I think that is a good way of measuring the effect of the layoff/delayed start date for the Starters. I don't know what your splits are meant to show.
