The only reason that I wouldn't do the deal is the uncertainty regarding Peavy's elbow. Otherwise, I'd do the deal in a heartbeat. Peavy is a strikeout pitcher. Take away a maximum of 25% of his K's as being against pitchers and he is still a strikeout pitcher. Strikeout pitchers are not as affected by a move from a pitcher friendly park. Peavy is an All Star starting pitcher and he is young. I do the deal in a minute. I would have done the Santana for Ellsbury deal. Starters like this are the rarest of commodities, and starting pitchers are the most important building block for a team.
