    The good argument for keeping him in the minors is that you don't trade a proven major leaguer in the middle of a pennant race (2-game lead on the Yanks after today and Tampa lurking) to give a kid a chance to prove that he can handle it. If you trade penny and Buchholz doesn't perform, maybe you find yourself without October baseball.

    But he hasn't proven that he can handle the majors. He'll get that chance next season. He may even get a chance in September.

    They are all insurance for each other at the bottom of the rotation. Unfortunately for Clay, he is the only one with options, so he goes to the minors.

    You don't base a decision on 1 game. Let's not forget that Clay was 2-9 last year and cost us the division title. Dice K is 1-5 with an ERA about 7 1/2. The larger point is what do you think you are going to get for Penny? Your not going to get equal value.

    There was a pop fly to Damon in sahllow LF with runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and the runner held. Sabbathia got the next guy out. Ridiculous!

    Penny is going nowhere unless Halladay is acquired. Masterson, Bowden and Dice K are not reliable depth for a pennant drive. Masterson is getting lit up lately in his Middle Inning Relief role. Dice K's health is a huge question mark, and Bowden has barely had a cup of coffee at the major leagues.
