  1. They set up the field in the outfield. Home plate was in the RF corner. The IF was roped off. If you hit a ball over the ropes it was a ground rule double no matter how hard you crushed it. Mine was not crushed, but it cleared the ropes easily. On most softball fields, it would have been an out, so while it wasn't a "wall ball" it was a Fenway double. One left handed hitter pulled a foul drive up into the CF bleachers. That was pretty cool.
  2. I'm not that old. I got a couple of hits including a double in the EMC Fantasy softball game at Fenway on Tuesday.
  3. You did a lot of research to prove that "never" really meant "almost never", when if you had just asked me if by saying "never" whether I literally meant "never", l would have conceded that "never" almost never means "never". Let me save you future research. When I use "always," I rarely mean "always."
  4. I stand corrected. He almost never hurts himself with walks.
  5. The guy walks 30-40 guys in a season. He doesn't hurt himself with walks. He walked 3 in 7 innings in the Yankee game that you referenced. That's the most guys he has walked in a game all season, and 3 in 7 innings is not that bad if it is his worst.
  6. Lester is killing himself with the walks today. Halladay will never do that.
  7. Chris Davis sucks. He's on pace to K about 220 times. I'd rather bring up Bates.
  8. Penny doesn't have much trade value IMO. He's more valuable in the rotation than as a trading chip. He has had a very solid season up to this point. Trading him now would be essentially dumping him for very little in return. I see no possibility that he brings back any talent that would improve this Red Six team. Buchholz is the future and that will come next season.
  9. I think you are probably right.
  10. If he stays where he is, that would be fine with me, but if the Yankees were to scoop him up that would shift the balance of power to the Yankees without a doubt. Pitching wins and the Sox have plenty of offense. If Halladay goes to the National League, it wouldn't bother me, but it would bother me if the Yanks got him. I think the FO is on top of this enough that they will not let this happen and are prepared to top a Yankee offer. The Sox don't need Halladay, but they can't afford to let the Yankees get him. Also, this whole discussion about Halladay stems from my belief that Penny will not be traded unless the Sox get Halladay. I am convinced about that. Penny isn't going anywhere to make room for Buchholz.
  11. He hasn't been to the post season. It's not like he is Wang who has been to the post season and spit the bit.
  12. Ridiculous? The Red Sox are a serious contender for the World Championship. I don't think you would dispute that. The odds makers in Vegas certainly think the Red Sox are serious contenders for the Championship. The Yankees getting Halladay would shift the balance of power back to the Yankees without question. Would they be guaranteed a World Championship? Of course not, but they would be in a better position to win than any other team. I don't see how that is ridiculous.
  13. He's pretty darn good. If the Yankees get him, we will be in for a world of frustration.
  14. There is also the possibility that Buchholz forgets how to locate his fastball like last year and puts up much worse numbers than Penny would.
  15. Add Halladay to the Yanks, Sox, Phils, Dodgers, or Cards and that team will be very difficult to beat.
  16. If any contending team gets Halladay, they will become the favorite to win the Championship.
  17. ... and the Tigers Third base coach.
  18. I think it is more likely that they will trade Buchholz, because getting Halladay would probably net back to back championships.
