  1. I think they have to make the big play for him. My point is that in the end, getting Tex would probably be cheaper than getting Gonzalez, because of what he will cost in prospects.
  2. I think it is also doubtful that we can land Adrian Gonzalez who is the one star that SD has and he is still very young. Unfortunately for the Sox, in a year when they need to add some big pieces, the FA market contains almost no top tier talent. It was the same story after 2006, when the Sox paid a king"s ransom for second tier talent. Last year when the market was loaded they sat on their hands and let all the top guys sign elsewhere. That was very short-sighted.
  3. The Schilling and Dice K cases are not comparable. Schilllng was an aging star looking for 1 final big pay day. Arizona was not in a position to take such a risk so they gave him to us for a bag of balls. With Dice K there was no team on the other side of that acquisition. The Beckett situation is comparable, but we had to give up an everyday major league ready player in Hanley and we had to be willing to take a salary dump with Lowell. Other than Buchholz, do we have any major league ready budding stars that we could trade. I don't think that the Mariners make the pitcher for pitcher swap. IMO it is more realistic for the Sox to pursue Adrian Gonzalez and Halladay.
  4. All bloated degenerate drunks look like Babe Ruth.
  5. Whining about the Yankees economic advantage is not exactly an advanced financial analysis. It would be difficult for such a discussion to be over anyone's head. It is boring, whiny and pointless. I didn't take any shots at your political views. I only noted where I think the current political regime is headed-- a global government that sacrifices the sovereignty of the US. You were a big B.O. supporter during the campaign, so I was wondering I how you felt about their direction. How do you process that as a disapproval of compassion etc.? That's a little bit wacky. How many charities are there to which you contribute your time and resources? I do quite a bit of charity work, and I generously contribute cash and property to a number of charities.
  6. I wanted to inject it into the discussion, so it wasn't needless. You should use accurate terms and descriptions when seeking to insult someone. At least I was raising a topic for discussion and not just making a pointless insult like you did.
  7. The GM Meetings start today. Time for Theo and Company to get to work. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/
  8. I fixed it for you.
  9. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/articles/2009/11/09/mom_of_former_major_leaguer_zambrano_kidnapped/ Millions of Mets fans wish that Zambrano had been kidnapped before the Mets traded Kazmir for him.
  10. I only had to read a couple of sentences into this lengthy post to come to the following conclusion. If the Yankees were playing a team owned by the Nation of China, I would still root against the Yankees. BTW I am curious as to why you would use China in your hypothetical. I would think you would admire China especially since you favor the prevailing philosophy among our politicians who are intent upon squandering every economic advantage of the U.S that generation upon generation and hundreds of millions of Americans worked so hard to achieve over more than two centuries. After they have destroyed the free market system and reduced our standard of living to the point where we can no longer feed our people or provide them with adequate medical care, we will be just like China.
  11. He should have been home with his family swimming in his electrifried pool.
  12. kottaras stinks both offensively and defensively. He'll never be anything more than a bench jockey. It would be no great loss if he left. He will not even have a career as good as Bob Montgomery.
  13. I don't get this "Team of the Decade" business. Is this some sort of official designation? I don't remember this discussion in the 60's, 70's or 80's. Is there a listing of the winners of the Team of the Decade Award for past decades. If not who cares? It seems that it is something that the Yankee fans and press are conjuring up to fan the flames of the rivalry. Let me say, that I don't think there is any need to fan the flames as many of us thoroughly hate everything to do with the Yankees and their fans regardless of whether the Yankees are Champions. Enjoy your self-created and self-anointed title. Maybe you can come up with a "Team of the Score (1990-2009)" title. I hope you all choke to death on your Thanksgiving Turkeys.
  14. The pool of available Short Stops starts to shrink.
  15. This is a big nothing move. He's taking the spot that Kotsay had at the beginning of 2009. He's an upgrade for power, but he is less versatile than Kotsay. This move doesn't even deserve its own thread.
  16. I really hope that Theo doesn't diddle around trying to make deals for Gonzalez and Felix that can't be made and in the mean time, Lackey and Holliday and Bay get signed by other teams.
  17. :lol:I lived through Bucky and Buckner. This was nothing. Red Sox fans that grow up in Brooklyn could survive a nuclear blast.
  18. Yeah... a Buffalo Chip

  20. I am good with this, but doesn't this look good too?
  21. I will not be listening to that until December.
