  1. It's nothing that an injection or two of HGH can't solve. After all, in Andy's church it's not cheating if you do it only to get back on the field.
  2. Cutting Ortiz to call up Nava is not going to happen whether Nava sits on the bench or is the water boy. That is not a possibility. Anyone in the Red Sox FO that would suggest such a thing would get demoted to concessions.
  3. As it has turned out, Ortiz's bad start has crippled the team. I don't think anyone can dispute that. When they didn't acquire a big stick, a lot of us on this board knew that it would be critical for Ortiz to be productive and not get off to a slow start. I think the FO knew that too.
  4. Maybe Ortiz is done and maybe the Sox need to cut him, but it is posts like this one that make it hard to take you seriously. Cut Ortiz and call up Nava? That ain't going to happen.Maybe he gets called up if Ortiz goes on the DL, but they are not going to DFA him to bring up Nava. They would wait until Ellsbury and Cameron come back.
  5. They'll play better, more consistent ball when the pitching gets on track, but if we are 10 games behind 2 teams in our division by the end of May, the will not have a shot at a playoff spot unless they can run the table head to head against the Yankees or the Rays.
  6. I didn't see the game, but it looks like it was an ugly game for Ortiz with 2 K's and 2 DP's. There are reports of a wrist problem now, which could spell the end of Ortiz and the end of the Red Sox season. Two nice victories the last two nights have allowed the Red Sox to tread water while wearing cement shoes. The Yanks and Tampa are doing what the Sox could not do-- beat the weak sisters of the league. Once the Sox let bay walk and didn't replace his bat with a big stick, they were placing a heavy bet that Ortiz could be a force in the lineup and that he would get off to a fast start. If the Red Sox lose any more ground before the end of the month, all of the off season planning will have gone up in flames-- a flash fire-- with 4 months left to go in the season. I guess a lot of us will be waiting for pre-season football in August.
  7. A conundrum that would exist but for the ill-conceived signing of the slick fielding Beltre.
  8. You were hanging with Dutchy and Imperial?
  9. What will be huge will be demonstrating some consistent performance. A winning streak would be nice.
  10. Not clamoring for Embree, but what was the point of signing him if they were going to keep Schoenweiss? It's not like Schoenweiss has been good.
  11. Pedroia is the only guy with only one hit. He should be cut.
  12. I think he is going to help take us to the Play off and the World Title.
  13. A bridge to what? Their best prospect became a permanent casualty of surgery. Who are the stars from our system that will be manning positions on the big club in 2012. By 2012, more piece will need to be replace. Drew will be gone. So will Lowell and Beltre, so we'll need a third baseman to. We'll need a couple of outfielders and a SS and a catcher. The Sox system is ready to produce 5 stars to hold down positions in 2012? It sounds like a bride to nowhere. It also looks like the $160 million invested in the 2010 roster has a good chance of being a complete waste of resources, because if this team doesn't turn it around fast, they will be out of the race by the end of May and their fanbase will become disengaged. Since a "bridge year" is code for doing just enough to keep the sucker fans happy and engaged and spending their money without really trying to win a Championship (that would have required Bay or Holliday), their 2010-2011 plan might be an early complete bust. They might be forced to really try to compete in 2011
  14. Here's some made up s*** for the board. I think the Sox are the team to beat this year. The FO did a great job of putting together the perfect balance of power, speed, pitching and defense and experience and youth. Here's something not made up. I don't think many people realize just how important Ellsbury is to the success of this team, He has established himself as the offensive catalyst that Johnny Damon had been for the Sox. He helps Pedroia set the table and he manufactures runs when the team is slumping. f*** Beltre for almost killing him. I wish he had stayed far away in Seattle.
  15. It's the 2nd of May and the Sox are 7 games behind the Yankees and 8 games behind the Rays in the loss column. This season could slip away very fast.
  16. I'm glad that I missed this game. We get swept by the O's and lost more ground to the Yanks and Tampa (who beat KC despite a complete game 1 run effort by Greinke). With a sweep staring him in the face, Tito benches the #3 and 4 hitters. I don't know if they were injured, but if they weren't hurt or ailing, that was pretty stupid.
  17. Sent. Let's discuss.
  18. You can't draw any conclusions from one game. I am on record saying that I think Ortiz will get hot and hit consistently for power. I'm not sure about when he'll break out, or if they will stick with him until he does. If he starts popping the ball out of the park on a regular basis Tito needs to move him behind Youk and move You to the 3 hole. You want your big bopper having as many chances as possible with men on base. Two and three run HRs really hurt, and he'll get plenty of shots at them with Pedrois and Youk setting the table. That's right, If he starts going deep, he needs to be in the 4th slot with the table setters in front of him and VMart and Drew protecting him.
  19. I sent you an email through the league message board with a trade proposal.
  20. There was no gun in Ft. Myers, but the paper the next day said that he hit 90 only once. I don't trust guns. He didn't look to have any life on his fastball tonight despite the gun readings. It's hard to tell on TV.
