  1. It's always nice when a bad call comes in a crucial game-deciding moment.:thumbdown
  2. I missed the last inning. Was the third strike on Ortiz a bad pitch on the 3-2 count?
  3. I learned this unwritten rule from my father when Bob Moose no-hit the Mets in 1969. We were at that game. He told me that you are not "supposed to" bunt to break up a no-hitter. It's funny. I was rooting for the Mets, but because my Dad explained how rare it was to witness a no-hitter I was rooting for the no-hitter at the end. I wasn't the only one. I recall that the Met fans gave him a nice round of applause as many were rooting for him at the end. We weren't concerned that our guys didn't try to get on with a bunt. I've been to hundreds of games since then, but I have not seen a no-hitter since that day. I'm glad that no one bunted. P.S The Mets won the World Series that year
  4. :lol:My point was not to convince anyone that my dad is a wise man, but only to illustrate that this unwritten rule has been around since he was a kid, back in the days of Ruth and Gehrig.
  5. Oh, okay this is a cheerleader thread. Accuracy is not permitted. Got it.
  6. ... and Scutaro is a good click below average speed.
  7. I phrased that poorly. Because of his position, he is slightly below average, as MIFs are usually some of the faster players in baseball.
  8. Taking into account that he is a MIF, he is only slightly below average.
  9. My dad, age 91, taught me that it was bush league. It may be unwritten, but some of those unwritten rules are adhered to more than the written rules (e.g. the size of the strike zone). This unwritten rule has been around for a very long time. There are a few exceptions. One exception is if the game is close, and the team being no-hit is fighting for a playoff spot at the end of the season.
  10. The reason why they are 9th in runs despite being higher in the other categories is due to a lack of speed as well as poor situational hitting. Without Ellsbury, this lineup is full of slugs. VMart, Lowell, and Ortiz are painfully slow. Pedroia is a little below average as is Youk. Hermida is no gazelle either. The team is terrible at going first to third and second to home. It takes too many hits to score runs at times.
  11. It's a surprising statistic, especially in light of the OF injuries. Scutaro has reversed the drag that the SS position was on our offense. Varitek playing out of his mind Beltre hitting like an animal are also responsible for this suprising stat. They will come back to earth, but VMart, Ellsbury and Ortiz should pick up their pace.
  12. Efficient strike throwing, overpowering stuff, and going deep into games. This is not him returning to his old form. This is something that we have never seen from him on any consistent basis. Let's hope that this will be the new Dice K.
  13. The Japanese National Treasure was money tonight.
  14. This is the best Dice K has looked since that ALCS playoff game in 2008 against Tampa.
  15. How come Beltre is not wearing his goggles?
  16. I've been waiting for Drew to bunt down third baseline. Good move!!!
  17. The encouraging thing is his velocity has been consistently 92-93 and he is throwing strikes. His pitch count is usually this high after 2 innings.
  18. ...but she's a psycho.
  19. Dice K's stuff is crisp tonight.
  20. Is anyone else tire of the McDonald /Hall/Van Every show yet? When will the Red Sox get some major league OFers in the lineup?
