Expecting Salty to be able to handle the job on a team with a $175 Million payroll was just foolish. It was extremely poor judgment.

If he misses all of 2011, it would really hurt his chance of being a starting OF in 2012. They were hoping for some refinement of his skills and good production at AAA and maybe some ML time to fill in for injured players. Without it, I doubt that he is a full time ML OFer in 2012. He's more likely to be a platoon or bench player.

Just to put this thread in context, it was created in August 2010, so next year is this year, and the answer is clearly no.

They are a cowardly bunch. The highlight of their season will be our two week slump to start the season.

I don't know what they are waiting for. Salty cannot be salvaged. He will single-handedly lose games for us. He's that bad. Tonight, in addition to sucking, he made two mental errors. First, but for a favorable call by the ump, he almost made the third out at 3rd base costing us a run. Then, on a passed ball, he stands at the plates looking at his feet while the runner scores from second base. Goodness!!!

He did. He looked fresh, like he hadn't pitched the prior two days.

Thank you Papelbon. I think he is trending in the right direction. He's been the only consistently reliable guy out of the pen early in the season.

If a runner gets on in the 9th, Salty will be exploited and the guy could end up on 3rd base.

When Salty pulls a rock it is a doozie. The guy is nit salvageable. Earlier in the game it was obvious that the team strategy was to have him not throw the ball. When they let him throw the ball, he bounced it as usual. Add to that the fact that he can't catch the ball and he is an idiot. Well, it's just embarrassing.
