We all like to beat up on that pompous ass John Sterling, the Yankee Radio Announcer, but I just found out that he offered on air condolences to my friend, Mike Mancuso who lost his Dad the other day. Mike has been doing weekend and evening updates for WFAN radio in NY for 20+ years. It's a part-time job for him. Sterling is not on WFAN and Mike is a huge Mets fan and known Yankee hater. Nice touch, John. It meant something to those of us who are friends with Mike.

Martin's physical skills are just so far superior to Salty. In the end, with all other things being equal, the talent always tells.

If done the right way, Ortiz will lay down his bat and take his base, but with the erratic command of Burnett, if he comes around Papi's head or hands and angers him watch out. If I were Burnett, I'd hit a much smaller man, and everyone is much smaller than Big Papi.

Check out the first 3 years of Martin's career. When Salty gets to that level, get back to me. It ain't ever going to happen.

I am leaving room for the possibility that Martin will break down nad that Salty will improve. When both are healthy, there is no question that Martin is far superior to Salty.
