  1. A lat strain? Lol!! He's done for the year.
  2. More bad news:
  3. We should only be 1/2 game out, but we missed 2 golden opportunities to pick up games the last 2 nights.
  4. That does make me feel better.
  5. It is still a long shot for the Sox to miss the playoffs, but if they get sweptr this weekend by Tampa, the situation will become perilous and no longer a long shot. If Lackey comes through and wins tonight, it would be a real longshot for them to blow it. If the Sox win 2, I will declare victory. They just need to avoid the sweep. Horseface Lackey needs to earn his money tonight.
  6. With our rotation set for this weekend against Tampa with Lackey, Weiland and TBA against Wade Davis, Hellickson and Shields would anyone care to post something in the Optimism Thread. I could use a lift. BTW: Screw you Theo. You left this team exposed because you thought the playoffs were guaranteed. You may have badly miscalculated. This team needed reinforcement-- not a lot, but just enough to get by. You basically did nothing and $175 million may be getting flushed down the toilet. Fool!
  7. I am glad that I missed this game. I didn't need to see that mistake Miller give up a bunch of early runs ensuring another loss. We go into the weekend series like patsies with a 6 game lead. Unless we get extremely lucky the weekend will conclude with the Sox having only a 3 game lead. I really can't watch. I have seen this show before. It ain't pretty, and this has the potential to be the biggest let down in team history. Let's hope that we get some luck.
  8. Yanks gave up 13 hits today and got only 6 for themselves. It's a game they should lose, but it's the Yankees.
  9. Can we get the date correct in the title for tonight's game thread?
  10. The Sox are 4-4 in Toronto despite scoring 68 runs in the eight games.
  11. He has been completely useless all season long.
  12. Never sign a Met?
  13. Please, someone make me feel better about the pitching matchups for the next 4 games.
  14. After last night's game, it might not have been the best time to bump this thread. Lol!
  15. Realistically, this team is in some trouble. With 7 games upcoming against Tampa, the playoffs are not even assured. I heard Mike Lupica say this morning that the Sox are no longer a lock for the playoffs. I don't think he is being emotional or reactionary. Look at the pitching matchups against Tampa this weekend. The best matchup that we have is the Lackey game. We have a terrible matchup for today's game in Toronto. We could start the weekend with a 6 game loss column lead over Tampa with 7 games to play against them. Concern is rational and justified at this point in time.
  16. You are forgetting about the posting fee for Dice K. Just because he doesn't get that mony and it doesn't get counted toward the luxury tax cap doesn't mean that it wasn't real money. The $52 million acquisitiion cost was part of the investment in Dice K and he certrainly didn't earn twice his salary. They invested as much in Dice K as Cliff Lee got, and Dice K had no track record that would translate to major league success. Lackey is a closer call, but he did have injury issues as you have acknowledged. The Sox docs probably should have checked him out more thoroughly. I agree with you about Crawford, but I always thought that Holliday was the better option. In the end the results count and the GM has to take the heat.
