  1. I think luck is a convenient excuse for losers. I reject that.
  2. I agree with you, but I reject the luck excuse on any level.
  3. On the whole, Theo has had a successful tenure with the Sox, but I think it might be time for new blood, new ideas and a new approach. No one is indispensable. If Theo could come in at age 27 and do a good job, there are others who can do a good job.
  4. We still have hope. Pedroia and Ortiz hate to lose more than most players. Hopefully, they can get the guys jacked up tomorrow. Our best guy is pitching. If the Rays lose 1 of the games tomorrow, things will be looking up.
  5. He said that he was pitching well and that he knows how to pitch. I guess he can't throw the guy under the bus. He's in a tough position.
  6. Last year was also a debacle. We are staring at a second debacle in a row. This debacle comes after he committed over $300 million to 2 players.
  7. I have been hearing and reading so many whiny excuses that it's good to hear someone step up and point the finger at himself. This game was on Papebon. It would be nice to hear some other guys step up to be accountable for the rest of this month.
  8. Papelbon manned up and took full accountability. He didn't say the "s*** happens" Good for him.
  9. It's hard to think of a bigger failure.
  10. I'll be in front of the tube every game until the end, but realistically they have barely a glimmer of hope. Not only is the schedule going to be tough to overcome, but the biggest hurdle is that we have only 2 pitchers that are reliable and one of them has not been pitching well lately. I don't see this lineup being able to bludgeon its way to victory when the other 3 guys are pitching.
  11. The Rays are not that good. The Sox are just playing that bad. At the beginning of the month we were talking about winning 100 games. They will just about crack 90-- that's not good enough to get to the post season in this league.
  12. Oh goody goody, we get to see Wakefield pitch against the Yankees on Saturday. Yipee!!!
  13. This is really bad. He has to take the hit for this. Add to the lack of starting pitching that he built a flimsy bullpen. This September staff is the worst pitching staff that I can remember-- worse even than the days when they stacked their lineup with power hitters.
  14. ... and Lackey's September ERA is higher than that.
  15. I asked my wife to stab me in the heart after Carter's hit so I didn't have to see us lose. I am sure that she often regrets her decision not to stab me.
  16. What is the team ERA in September?
  17. Maybe, he'll go with "s*** happens". I'd love to see that.
  18. Let's hear what stupidity Tito comes out with tonight.
  19. They've played like low level minor leaguers in the OF over the past two series. Real bush league garbage.
  20. Maybe Conor Jackson can run head first into the wall tomorrow killing himself and inspiring the team to win the rest of it's games.
