  1. Nava has fond memories of Blanton. He is the guy who served up the first major league pitch seen by Nava that he hit out of the park for a Grand Slam.
  2. Mauer has been durable and consistently excellent.
  3. From 2006 to present, Mauer has won 3 Batting Titles and finished in the top 4 in 5 seasons. I know Batting Average means nothing , but he also finished in the top 3 in OBP in those 5 years, and that means something. Other than his one injured year (2011), his worst season in that span was 2007 when he hit .293 with an .808 OPS. The guy is a complete stud with the bat. His value isn't just as a catcher. He is a top 5 hitter in the league.
  4. Pedey, Mauer, Ortiz? I have to go take a cold shower.
  5. If they have Napoli when Ortiz retires. Plus, if the big man is still hitting like this next season, I think he gets re-signed.
  6. I have seen that happen so many times to visiting Left Fielders at Fenway.
  7. Hopefully, there is nothing wrong with his shoulder.
  8. That big man punishes a baseball. Wow!!!
  9. Rubby had a good outing today-- 5 innings, 4 hits, 1 Run.
  10. In today's Met's -Marlins game, both starters Fernandez and Harvey had quality starts, but Marcum pitched 8 innings of 1 run ball in relief and Kevin Slowey went 7 innings of shutout ball in relief. You don't see that very often.
  11. We have to keep him on the field.
  12. Doubs needs to stay healthy and strong and not crap out like last year in the second half.
  13. I wanted to get some opinions of other Fantasy players regarding a trade in one of my other leagues. Here it is: Longoria for Keppinger and Trevor Bauer It is a keeper league with 16 teams. Each team gets 4 keepers to carry over to the following season plus 1 minor leagues keeper. During the season you can have 4 minor league guys on your roster, but can only keep 1 for the following season. A player doesn't count toward the fantasy roster while he still has rookie eligibility (i.e. under 130 ABs for hitter and 50 innings for pitchers). Bauer has 32 innings of MLB service. Rosters only carry 4 bench spots. What say you.
  14. I'd offer anyone except Bogaerts.
  15. I think Mel Parnell had a better season in 1949. 295 innings, 27 CG, 25 wins, 2.77 ERA.
  16. The more good prospects they want the more money they will have to kick in. I think they could get a decent (not a top prospect) and get full salary relief.
  17. If lee goes anywhere, I think he will go to Texas. The Rangers have show a proclivity for some in season splashy moves, and I don't see Lee waiving his limited no-trade clause to come to Boston without a sizable extension.
  18. Ortiz is not just our best power hitter. He is our best hitter and he has been tearing the s*** out of lefties in recent years. Crackhead Washington should have pitched to Pedroia. If they get Pedroia, they put Papi on and go after the guys behind him. Intentionally walking a batter in front of Ortiz is just not a high percentage move. Washington is a terrible tactician. HE took an axe to game 6 of the WS in 2011 against the Cards and gave the Cards that game and the Championship.
  19. I hope that this kid Ball pans out and he becomes a stud starter for us. It is not often that we get such a high pick. It would be nice to get something for sucking so bad last year. Hopefully, he can make it into our rotation in 3 years (2016).
  20. Morales is just not that good. He's not terrible. For small stretches, he can be very good and his stuff looks impressive. However, he has never been able to cut it as a starter. I'm not quite sure exactly what the issue is that has held him back from success in that role, but the fact is that Colorado gave up on him and discarded him like a spare part. Teams don't often do that with lefties who throw in the mid-90's if they have starter potential. They ruled him out for that role, and he is yet to stake his claim as a regular starter for us. He is at most a spot starter-- a short term depth option.
  21. Gomes bat woke up tonight. Hopefully, he will go on a tear and produce some power too.
