    Dickey threw a complete game 2 hit shutout against the Rays this afternnon. Edit: And Reyes is back in their lineup just in time to face us.

    Kyle Kendrick had another QS last night-- 8 innings, 2 runs, 2 BB, 6k's. That's his 12 th QS- not bad for a bum. The major league lead in QS is 14. Speaking of waiver wire pickups, Dominic Brown wasn't a bad waiver wire pick up.

    First of all, Cashman's behavior has been pretty mild when compared to the departed Boss and the inhabitants of the old Bronx Zoo. He's like Casper Milktoast compared to what the Steinbrenner boys are used to.

    I looked at Uehara's stats when I looked back at your post. I knew that he had been a successful bullpen guy, but I mistakenly thought he had trouble in the closer's role. He had one season where he had 13 saves and he did pretty well. He's probably our best bet interanlly, but the biggest question mark he would carry is the ability to pitch back to back days and carry a heavy load.

    It's not a good thing for us that the Yankees will have ARod, Jeter and Granderson back for the second half. They have managed to stay just a few games back without those guys. Jeter will give the team a huge lift, and 50% of the old ARod is better than Nix. At least Tex will probably be gone for the second half.

    I didn't understand that you were comparing Iglesias this season to Middlebrooks last season. I was confused by how you began that post by saying "in fairness." Who should we be fair to?

    Iglesias was not handed the starting position like Middlebrooks was. Middlebrooks had a lot of ABs. Iglesias had next to none.

    Middlebrooks squandered a golden opportunity. Next year, Xander will be pushing him. He may not have a big future in the organization.

    I'll be thrilled turning cartwheels if he gives us a 2010 Papelbon season.

    Uehara will not get by as the closer with an 89 mph heater. He's a nice pitcher, but that would not end up better than 2010 Papelbon.

    I"d be happy if either one of them could put up a 2010 Papelbon season. Very happy.

    Still, I must have missed the ensuing lambasting. BTW, I'd be happy to take Papelbon's 2010 instead of what we paraded out there last season and this season.

    So, was it a prediction or an observation? There is a difference. An observation is much less impressive. Where was the lambasting? Was that also hyperbole?

    I saw Jenks' last outing at Yankee Stadium. He got winded from walking in from the bullpen to the mound and warming up.

    I hope they send him to AAA. He's killing one of my fantasy teams, and I don't want to cut him.

    I checked the Predictions thread. You didn't post any list of predictions like many other did. No guts, no glory. So, I can't find this Papelbon prediction or the lambasting that allegedly occurred. You did state that you were "cautiously optimistic" about Bard. Suprisingly, no one lambasted you for that one.

    And Papelbon is still better than Bailey.
