Hobson had an excuse. He was a coke addict. Do you remember the story about the time he went home and left his kid at the ballpark? That must have gone over big with his wife. The Hobson days were a dark period. I was pissed when they gave Walpole Joe the bum's rush out the door because they were afraid to lose Hobson to another organization. Morgan Magic was an exciting time after brainless McNamara got canned.

So what? 1986 was the most depressing time of my Red Sox fandom especially living in NYC at the time. Because of that, the entire 1986 season conjures up bad memories for me. Do you have a problem with that... you Psycho? I said nothing about forgetting every season prior to 2004. I have great memories for 45 years of the players and their feats. The 1978 maybe the best Red Sox team that I have seen. The 1975 - 1979 teams were stacked and fun. So go crawl into your hole of misanthropic misery and stay there .

A nice fat payroll helps. It prevents long droughts of losing. It helps make up for mistakes and injuries. In 19 years, the Yankees have missed the playoffs twice. When is the last time that they had a sub .500 season. Clearly, their financial resources have helped them enormously. Does any other team have that kind of record over the last 20 years? -
It will be a little ridiculous if the Yankees start the season with the Starting centerfielder and shortstop from our championship team before we can even give them their rings.

Why would any Red Sox fan want to remember anything about that horror show? It was the low point of my life as a Red Sox fan-- by far. Everything else pales in comparison. The only memorable aspect of that World Series is that I went to game 1 at Shea Stadium. I have been to 2 World Series games -- 1986 Game 1 and 2013 Game 6.

It's slow. People are housebound in bad weather and all the big names are off the board so they are picking fights. In less than a month, pitchers and catchers report and the baseball talk will be in full swing.

Boy, how did UN manage to get me involved in this? Maybe he is a bit obsessed with me, because I will not engage him and ignore his posts. He has nothing so useful to say that can overcome the s***-ton of nonsense that comes along with it. The cost benefit analysis of reading him is too far out of whack on the cost side. As for SS, he gets stuff off his chest and he often refuses to engage in a pissing contest with those who disagree with him. Good for him. He's not obligated to argue with anyone demanding that he support his opinion. He is immune to the compulsion that others have to prove people wrong. Those are the posters that bore ands annoy me, especially in the realm of opinion.
