  1. I have no problem with it either. He scores off the field at an admirable rate. I have been involved in quite a bit of sex and debauchery in my life, so I have no problem with it, but I would not have termed any of it as classy even if I thought to give away goodie bags. LOL!!!
  2. I don't think YOTN is any of those things. LOL!
  3. I think that is true. He became self-centered and complacent.
  4. Why do you keep harping on this? If you were fine with giving it up for a goodie bag and a ride home, that's your business.
  5. IMO Beckett strained his lat because he was not in game shape from being shut down for about a month due to his princess and the pea act. That's my opinion. His absence for the 3 weeks or a month also cost us the division title IMO. We finished 2 games behind the rays.
  6. I didn't say that it wasn't the right business move. I am just saying that Pedro on the 2005 team could have brought another championship. I still believe that.
  7. This is not a court of law. I don't need evidence to have an opinion about Jeter. I give him all his props as a player. The guy had an incredible career, but the whole class thing and Captain Intangibles BS is just a bunch of BS to me. That's my opinion. Stick it in your pipe and smoke it Yankee fan,
  8. Not having Pedro in 2005 may have cost us a back to back championship. We had a beast of an offensive team that season. I'm not complaining with 3 championships in 10 seasons, but I do think that Pedro would have done a better job in the playoffs than Matt Cement Head Clement. Let's not forget that we played a s*** ton of money for that piece of garbage.
  9. Josh Beckett and his princess and the pea routine cost us the division championship in 2008 and very possibly another World Championship.
  10. Doji, I get your points, and they are mostly valid, but it was a terrible terrible trade. Arroyo has been a productive and more importantly a durable MLB pitcher for almost 10 years. Wily Mo was a trainwreck on every level. Even Theo gave a mea culpa on that trade calling it a mistake.
  11. My point is that people mistake quiet for classy. Jeter is not classy, just quiet. He maybe the only high profile star that has played for almost 20 years and never gave the press a single memorable quote. He's a great player and a gamer, but the guy has zero personality.
  12. It will be strange watching the Yankees without him. He had become such a fixture. I was hoping that he would play longer as his defense would deteriorate to the point where he would be very detrimental to his team. This announcement could spur on Drew to sign with the Yanks. He'd have to suck it up this season and bounce around the IF, but the position would be his in 2015. I guess Jeter was a classy guy. He gave his sexual conquests goodie bags of memorabilia and he had his driver take them home. So classy.
  13. You have pretty much summed up the situation. Their hard core long time fans hate the ownership group and the hate Selig for helping them to keep the Mets.
  14. I have stayed in the Copley Marriott several times. It is a very nice place. Red Sox Destinations goes first class. I will be there on Saturday and Sunday. I'll call you before hand to arrange a meeting place.
  15. The Mets have not been the same since they got rocked by the Madoff scandal. They were very involved with Madoff, and i suspect that they took a big hit. I can't point to specific evidence, because there is always the cloak of secrecy when it comes to the finances of baseball teams. It is a fact that MLB had to step in to lend them money a couple of years back to help them meet payroll. I will be in Boston on Opening weekend. We will have to arrange to meet.
  16. Pumpsie hasn't attempted a comeback. This is one of the usual suspects-- a special breed of douche bag.
  17. Which of our recycled bozos is this?
  18. The Mets are a mess. Drew is a perfect fit for them. Their other option is Ruben Tejeda who stinks.
  19. He should give them 200innings each year and around a 4 ERA with double digits in wins. I don't think the contract is too outrageous.
  20. I noticed the other day that Bonifacio got released. Boni-fiasco as Remdawg calls him. I thought the guy had some skills, speed and versatility. I was a bit surprised at his outright release. Does he have some locker room or other personality problems?
  21. My top memories other than 2004 are: 1967 - The stretch drive was so exciting and Yaz was other-worldy with the bat and in the field. That season made me a life long fan and it revived baseball in Boston. 1975 - Intially, I was psyched about Tony C's comeback and he hit a HR on opening day. He always had a flair for the dramatic. His comeback quickly fizzled, but rookies Jim Rice and Fred Lynn emerged as stars. They injected an excitement for the fans and all of baseball. These guys weren't just good rookies. They immediately became two of the best players in the game. Pedro vs. Clemens (May 28,2000) --- It was beautiful Sunday night. Yankee fans were at their most raucous. My son and I were at that game. It was an unbelievable pitching duel between two greats of the game. Nixon hit a 2-run HR off Clemens in the top of the 9th. Trot always hit Clemens well. In the bottom of the 9th, Pedro loaded the bases with 2 out before Tino Martinez grounded out to Jeff Frye for the final out of the shutout. From where we were sitting down the RF line, it looked like Frye double or triple clutched before making the throw to 1B, and he didn't get Tino by a lot.
  22. Madson is much further removed from surgery than Hanrahan.
  23. The off season is a lot shorter when you are still playing on October 30th. In 2012, our off season started before August ended. That off season dragged on and on.
  24. I consider us buds too, now.. right?
  25. LOL! Fred and I are buds, but we disagree about a lot of players and moves.
