  1. Unless Bogaerts tears it up this year, we can expect pitchers to finally stop pitching to Ortiz. There is no one behind him who can hurt pitchers with any regularity. It was amazing that they continued to pitch to him all of last year letting him beat and pummel their pitchers until the 6th game of the WS.
  2. Yes. It's time to get in gear. I am assuming that Gomes will be in there tonight. I wonder if Bradley or Sizemore gets the nod toight. Ross whould be behind the plate.
  3. Our offense stinks right now. No stats needed to confirm my opinion. LOL!!!
  4. Does it really matter if the stat is correct? A pair of eyes tells you that the offense has been extremely lackluster.
  5. Agreed. Nava is at best an emergency RFer.
  6. This team is missing the element of speed. You can all scream and yell that Ells was not worth the money, and I will not argue with you on that point. People will also ppoh pooh the value of a stolen base. However, that weaponized speed of his was not just about the stolen base. It was about the fear that it put in other teams. Every time he was on base, defenses had to give him a lot of attention. Every time he hit a ground ball to teh left side of the infield his speed put pressure on the defense. He forced miscues. Also, his speed forced pitchers to throw more fastball to Pedroia, and Pedroia is a dead red hitter. He will see a much different selection of pitches this season.
  7. We live in a largely free society. People have the opportunity to take them as far as their abilities will allow them to go. My dad was a child of the Great Depression and worked in a factory. I have a JD an LLM and a successful career. It takes some ability, lots of effort and focus.
  8. He has demonstrated his medical knowledge sufficiently on here. The guy is not faking it.
  9. Another flat game from the offense.
  10. Time to do something against the Yankee bullpen.
  11. Will Buch get through 6. His pitch count is getting up there. And the game is getting out of hand.
  12. Infantile mocking is okay.
  13. f***'em ridiculous names get ridiculed. People need to have a sense of humor.
  14. We need to get into the Yankee bullpen.
  15. The crotchetiness is just a result of gas. LOL!
  16. I might not be in the top 5. LOL!
  17. http://www.talksox.com/forum/threads/16847-4-9-vs-TEX?p=913703&viewfull=1#post913703 In response to your question in this post ^, there are a few. I believe that Spud, Bells, SoxSport and maybe others have me in the age category -- not just Fred. LOL!!
  18. I am not even the the oldest guy on TalkSox. I'm in the top 5. I know more baseball than the youngins here -- just from memory. And I am pretty sure that I have forgotten more about the game than most of them will learn in a lifetime. Admittedly, as each year passes, the amount that I have forgotten gets closer to the amount that I know.
  19. I am lucky I remembered the fact that I remembered. I'll bet that you had to look up the final standings.
  20. I think the pitching matchups favor the Red Sox slightly this weekend.
  21. I believe that he hit his one and only inside the park home run to clinch the 1946 pennant.
