  1. Schill, perhaps Boras was feeling some heat himself from the Japanese baseball people, knowing that if he blew the deal with Dice-K, it might be difficult for him to assemble any more players from that country. The Seibu Lions wanted DM signed and did not want to lose that money. Whatever, it worked out well for us and Boras will come out of it looking good in the eyes of the Japanese. If this guy is as good as advertised we really struck gold and good fortune. Now let's be greedy; let's get that closer and call it a winter's worth of work. Then, again, any of you think we really might want to reel in the Rocket?
  2. Hilarious Beckett. Well, he's human, isn't he? I notice that's the only way Chinese Taipei got that run across. I think we have hit a jackpot with him; the only question is how many games is the guy going to win for us? Not to put pressure on him but I think with any kind of support he's good for between 15-18. And he's not in pinstripes. :D :D
  3. The one with the cowboy hat and baseball jersey is me; he took it off the board and added a cowboy instead. Let's pay no mind to them. If they keep post to themselves they will soon go back to where they belong. Besides, we should be sitting in tall cotton. We got Daisuke signed and now all we really need is to swing that deal for a closer. Our lineup should be stronger than this past season, and our staff ought to be as good as anyone else's. What I don't want to see is Papelbon back in the closer's role. It cost him valuable time late last season and everyone from the doctors, trainers, and coaches think he should be a starter. I do, too. Wheeler, Lidge, Cordero, Gonzales---one of them ought to be able to do the job for us. What's your take?
  4. You know Beck, you might be on to something there. Wheeler has been damn effective the past two seasons and he could be had for less than what Lidge would cost us. A Pena for Wheeler might just get the job done.
  5. Red Sox Rooter, it all started a year and a half ago when I posted on that DB Board and make some unflattering comments about the Dodgers and from there it got nasty and very personal. Log on there and see for yourself. They are a bunch of nasty bastards who bring your family and friends into it. I was one of about six posters who were singled out and it became worse when I corrected some of them for inaccurate info. I haven't posted there for months but some of those guys there like to go on other boards and cause trouble. Fast Freddie and Metro Cowboy are two of those jerks. It wouldn't be bad if they talked about baseball, but they hardly ever do. They claim to be Dodger fans but no little or anything about the team they're supposed to root for. They spend their time degrading blacks, latinos, women, gays and anyone else they have it in for. Many of them have already been banned from this board but it doesn't stop them from logging on with another handle to continue to act like a bunch of *******s. It would be nice if yeszir, our moderator, could find a way to get more info on those who try to register with us from here on in. It would keep cruds like this off the board. Mad? Well, let me put it this way. If it were just me they were talking about I could wave it off like water off a duck's back but when they call my lovely wife a slut, my daughter a whore, and my grandkid a harlot I have every right to be angry. Somehow, somewhat cruds like this should never get on this board or any other one save for that pathetic and useless one they come from. I will no longer answer any of their posts and, hopefully, no one else will either.
  6. Keep me informed Riverside. I'm out here in So. California where the media thinks everyone is either an Angels or Dodgers fan. I hope all this is settled and the Drew thing get adjuticated quickly. Have you or anyone else heard what's up there? I heard he went back home yesterday and that sounds ominous to me.
  7. MannyHof, maybe you can explain it to Metropolitan Cowboy. He's another sad and sorry troll from that Dodger Blues Board who'se come on to pollute the board. He doesn't know what we should do with Clement and since he's a Dodger fan maybe you would have a suggestion for him before I call vector control.:thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown
  8. Send him back to Dodger Blues where he would fit right in with all those *******s. ( Hey guys, if you persude this post that's my picture this retard is using. It was taken in October of 1982 at a high school dance I sponsored as director of the Forensics Team.) Now do yourself a favor and get your sad and sorry ass off this board. You are here only to cause trouble and since you don't know jack s*** about your own team why pollute this board with ignorance. Maybe the Dodgers might take him off our hands. If you're a good boy I might even autograph that picture for you. Now get lost.
  9. I'm with you on this Riverside. We can barfcan the whys and wherefores on the Matsuzaka caper. It is over, we got him, Red Sox Nation is happy, talksox is happy, dirt dogs is happy, Boras is happy, Dice-K is happy, the Lions are happy, and the only unhappy people I know of reside in the Bronx. I'm all for moving on with this story. He is ours, and, yes, I'm happy too.
  10. BoSox, since I like you I will answer this. Instead of taking him out and shooting him would you support sending him down to Pawtucket for a couple of weeks as the closer down there to see if this would work? I don't think it would because his control is not all that consistent, but does seem to do well the first time through the batting order. It might be worth a try.
  11. Well, we all agree on that. Can we now just shitcan this thread on Clement. He is yesterday's news and bad news at that. Put him on waivers in the summer and let him finish his career somewhere else.
  12. BoNat, why all this fear that Pedroia is going to fall on his face. Anyone who can perform as he did against the Yankees last September, and who has been successful everywhere he's played and has so much spirit and vinegar that his college coach wears a hat with his last name written on it, is a player I want on my team. Forget Giles. Pedroia is going to be our second baseman for a long long time unless someone in the FO has another brain cramp and screws around with this kid. He's our second baseman for the next 12 year. End of story.
  13. OOOOOPPPPPPSSSSS, ok, no chocolate eclairs. How about as much backbone as a sponge cake? That better?::thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown
  14. There are a few things we should all remember about Dustin Pedroia. One, he has hit well in every place he has played---college, A, AA, and AAA. Secondly, he hit in some bad luck last summer. I know of at least six balls he hit onthe nose that were right at someone. Thirdly, he yanked in and out of the lineup by FrancoMa, hardly a way to instill confidence in a new player. Fourth, he did some good hitting against the Yankees, took Randy high off the wall in left, and the next day got the tie breaking and winning hit against the Yankees. Leave this guy alone. He is going to be a solid player for us. Let us instead now on doing the finishing work on our pitching staff, a closer and another pitcher who can set up when we need it.
  15. Texas, I don't know if you are incredibly optimistic or need to put the crack pipe down, but Wily Mo Pena is a disaster in the outfield. That should concern you first and foremost. Have you ever seen this guy play in the field? Believe me I have, and, believe me, it is not a pretty picture. The guy has eight years of pro experience and still cannot track a fly ball. At the plate he has no discipline and all the pitchers have to do is throw him a breaking ball on the outside and he is as done as an overcooked burger. In addition he is a lousy clutch hitter. No Tex, you want to revise you optimistic appraisal of the guy. He is best suited to be a DH on a team willing to take a chance that in two or three years he just might find himself. That is not on our team. We have a great DH already and don't have three years to waste on this guy.::dunno: :dunno: :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown
  16. I haven't heard Lidge's name come up in trade talks for almost a month and wonder if this is just a pile of smoke. He has not been on the Red Sox radar since the FA season opened and wonder if we are even interested in him. Don't get me wrong, if Lidge is healthy a trade of Crisp for Lidge would be ideal from where I sit, but if he is less than 100% physically we ought to be very careful. We do have a backup plan in CF in Jacoby Ellsbury who will our CF in 2008 if not sooner should he get off to a good start. Still, I would rather trade Pena since Coco can do some things that Wily cannot do, like catch balls consistently.
  17. You must remember Lugo comes from that Dodger Board where class is as absent as life is on Mars, but he has been cool on this board and we should let him indulge in his fantasy a little longer. Sooner or later he will get another avatar and be in good standing. He has been a very pleasant surprise around here and we have to understand that he is justifiably angry at what Drew did. He is, after all, a Dodger fan.
  18. Bosox brought up some good points Jackson and you might be guilty of those things, but I have never seen anything overly negative from you regarding the Red Sox. You are a Yankee fan and you hate the Red Sox and want to see them down and out. That is understandable; some posters read more into things than others. I'm not saying Bosox is wrong because he may not be; it is just that I seen things a little differently. We both agree that we want you on this board because you bring a lot to it. I was on a another board sometime ago where they allowed only Red Sox fans on it. It was dull, drab and totally uninspiring. Everyone went lockstep in total agreement with everything the FO did. They could have made a movie of that pathetic crew and called it "THE STEPFORD HUSBANDS.".
