  1. Kiss my ass Crespo. What makes you such a f***ing genius anyway? Frankly, you don't know s*** from shinola except to tell people to do to themselves what you do because you haven't the cajones to get a woman. For you half-ass information Bigbie is a decent outfielder; Pena fielding is like your character, pure s***.
  2. Well Bobby Higginson broke up Ray Halladay's no hitter some years back and I think he looked kind of white to me.
  3. Not me. We won and the Blue Jays lost. We gained a game for the first time in days. Oh, I wished that Curt had thrown a no-hitter because I love Schill but while he might feel some disappointment he has to understand that he wants to be the ace of the staff and or the stopper and he proved why he is just that. Besides, he looked very upbeat in a post-game interview and talked about how important it was to win the game. I really believe that the win was more important to him than the no-hitter. : :D :D :D
  4. How about winning some of them? We've lost five of six and I'm concerned? And why was Pena in there last night instead of Drew? We're paying the guy good money. We need him in the lineup.
  5. Schill, our team worked hard to build up a good lead along with the pratfalls of the other teams, so what now? We want to give the lead back? Time to saddle up and start playing good ball again. The Yankees are starting to hit, the Blue Jays are playing good ball and we are in a funk. With all the freakin' lousy breaks the Red Sox have had over the years why not one damn season when everything breaks right and we just romp? That's what I wanted to see this year. Well, we probably won't get it and have to fight like hell for and AL East title. Good to know that a young buck like yourself is a calmer figure that this mad old war horse you're reading. I do think more than ever we are going to have to make some additions and subtractions to this team. Some of our guys are not going to make it happen for us this year. What's even worse??? There is not a damn thing I can do about it as a fan except hope, rant and maybe a prayer or two.
  6. Jed Lowrie was considered a future Major League regular when he was signed out of Stanford U. a couple of years back and showed good form in the summer of 2005. He had a crappy year last year which might have set him back a spell, but talent always come to the fore. Now it is time for the Red Sox to make sure they play him in the right place. We don't need him at second base if that is where he is playing. Get him to short or third, preferably short and we can see him at Fenway Park in 2009 or 2010 at the latest when Lugo is about to depart the scene.
  7. Novena, huh? Well Red, at least we pray to the same higher authority. Well at least you are smart enough never to put money on Wakefield when he is pitching against the Yankees. It would have been nice to have two more games on them with a win last night. It would have provided us with more of a cushion. Tonight we have neither Oki or Paps for a closer so you had better hope for two things. One that we have a decent enough lead or a lead of any kind going into the bottom of the ninth, and, second, that somehow Piniero, Snyder, or Romero suddenly rise to the occasion and do the job or we'll all be unhappy again tomorrow morning.
  8. Stupidity????? First of all it WASN'T Wakefield's turn to pitch; it was Julian's. Taverez has beaten the Yankees twice this year and would have won a game against them last September in his only start against them if Pena had been able to catch a fly ball. Fortunately he got a ND instead of a loss. As for goings on, check you damn facts before you question mine. In 2005 in the home opener against the Yankees Wakefield beat them 7-2 with seven strong innings of pitching, so that paradigm you outlined goes out the window. I agree with his hot and cold spells but I think Taverez would have done better because he has done better against the Yankees this season, and if you want to test your theory of 50-50 let's you and I put up $100.00 dollars on the next time Wakefield opens a series against the Yankees; you take him to win it, I take him to lose it. I know you wouldn't take such a bet and I know why and you know why. Look, all I'm saying is that Francona has to work his rotation that Wakefield doesn't open a series against the Yankees again this year. I have the stats to back up my case; you have only hope and percentages that have not worked this year. Man, we really can work up a lather on this, can't we? Don't take it personal, though. We are on the same side.
  9. It is like a bone in my throat to have to say this ARod but you are absolutely right. The Yankees came into Fenway and won two of three, came from behind last night and scored a run apiece off of our two top relievers, and instead of being 14.5 games ahead we are only 12.5. That still is a nice lead but sometimes one game can make a difference over a long haul. Of course, I blame Francona for his s***** pitching set-up for this series. You never start Wakefield in a series against the Yankees. He now has a 10.63 ERA against them and they have walloped him every time they've faced him for over a year. Any time we go up against your team we have to have our best threesome in there and they have to pitch balls-out. The Yankees earned themselves some kuddos with their series win in our house even though it kills me to say it about a team that I utterly despise and have for 60 years.
  10. I agree with that right now; in two months, who knows? Jon Lester my friend. He is the missing link to beating the Yankees in the playoffs. I am absolutely convinced of that.
  11. Very reassuring post Schill; I hope you believe what you wrote. The Oakland A's have good pitching and we have to put runs on the scoreboard to take these guys and we need them tonight to back up Julian, especially since Paps and Oki are probably not available for the game. I wouldn't like entering the ninth inning with only a one run lead with Piniero or Romero trying to close the game for us. We need at least a three run lead with those two bums on the hill; hopefully we will be ahead when the ninth rolls around.
  12. Tal, no real Red Sox fan jumps ship. If you love the Red Sox that is an absolute impossibility. I should know; it is only my seventh season rooting for this team and it kills me every time they lose a game. No, what the problem is most of us is that we love this team too much, sometimes much to our personal detriment. Last night I was so pissed off that I nearly broke the TV monitor the way I slammed it down after that s***** Yankee fifth inning. However, let me be frank. We have to show that we can beat the Yankees again, and not just one of three. We play them two more series and we must be the ones to take two of three because as it stands right now ksuschi is right---they could take us in a Playoff series. They hit our pitchers, we hit theirs but we leave too many more men on base and throw Wakefield against them which puts us at a complete disadvantage. Right now they ought to look at the schedule and make damn certain that when those series come in front of it is NOT Wakefield's turn to pitch in any of the games. I might also suggest that Jon Lester be brought up as soon as possible. I just have a feeling that with all the Yankee lefthanders this kid just might be a ticket to give us the edge in head-to-head competition. Good post, though. It was kind of a wake up call for some of us.
  13. Crespo, they gained one game. Is that what the frig you wanted to hear? Fine, they gained only one game, but it was a two game switch if we would have won and maybe we gave them a glimmer of hope. Sorry, but when you get the Yankees down you step on their friggin' throats and take all the air out of them leaving them dead. Unless you do they can come back and bite you on the ass. I just hope we didn't let them back in the race. What they do in Chi town and what we do in Oakland will tell us a lot this coming week.
  14. I just don't want to see Wakefield open up another three game series with the Yankees. That's like giving them the game. He cannot pitch effectively against them anymore and I think that is evident to just about everybody on board. Well, almost everybody.
  15. Schill, if Wakefield doesn't rebound quickly the Red Sox would be fools not to replace him in the rotation. He has lookee horrid the past three weeks and I reall think he is starting to lose his effectiveness. Not only is he having trouble controlling his floater but is getting hit and hit hard.
  16. Right Schill---and that's why I was so stubborn about Dustin Pedroia all this time. Last September I saw the kid really come into his own against the Yankees at the Stadium, taking RJ off the wall, winning a game with a key hit the next day and playing well. Of course, when the series was over he was back being platooned. Dustin showed that he can and likes playing against the Yankees. I think Ellsbury is in the same class. I really believe he is ready now and if he performs ably the next week or so why wait??? And when are we going to get Lester back on our team and into the rotation. Wakefield is fast becoming a black hole there and we could use another good starter.
