First things first Schill. Who is saying that the Red Sox are finally going to say sayonara to Tim Wakefield. He has become almost a pet for the Red Sox brass and I think they are very reluctant to let him go. They should, no doubt in my mind about it. I saw him Saturday in person and saw enough to convince me that I have been right about him all along. He is about finished. And we can get rid of Mirabelli in the process because he is completely useless as a hitter. i saw that, too on Saturday night. If the Red Sox are smart and do tell Wake to take a hike then Sabathia is who I want in a Red Sox jersey. The problem is the here and now. Who is to say that Cleveland will not resign him? Who'se to say that the Cubs will not resign Zambrano? If we have a chance to get Buehrle and don't have to give up Bucholz or Ellsbury for him, then fine. Those are two players we must not let get away. Bowden? I can see that. Hell, why not make it a big trade.....Send Bowden, Crisp, and Murphy to their team for the lefthander and first baseman Paul Konerko. There would be a way to settle our first base problem for next year. If we have to throw another player or prospect in, fine. It means we can finally bring up Ellsbury and have a legitimate leadoff man for a change. No, Crisp is NOT a leadoff man. He does not work the count at all.

Chin, unfortunately you are wasting your time and typing fingers. Those DB guys were let on because they threatened to cause havoc if we didn't let them on and now the genee is out of the bottle. I don't know why yeszir did it but he did and we have to live with it or leave the board. I and others who challenged these guys on DB found that we were open season and not only us. They called my wife, daughter and grandaughter vile names and it was something that would not have been permitted or is permitted on any other board. Now some of them are here and many of them are here to cause nothing but trouble. It will be up to the rest of us to deal with them when they talk baseball but let them have it when they get personal or try to make this a shithole Dodger board.:thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown

We'd be nuts to get Buehrle if we don't sign him to a long term contract before we trade for him. If the Pale Hose balk at that s*** on them. And we don't put Bucholz or Ellsbury is any such package for the lefthander. Those two are a big part of our future and I think both are going to be solid players for us. I would hate to lose Lester but a healthy Buehrle would give us a solid lefty in our rotation, but we should beware of how much Sox GM Williams starts raising the ante. If he compares notes he will see we can give him a much better deal than the Yankees do, but if he holds out for too much we ought to tell him to take a hike. He then would turn to the Yankees and get less than he would have from us. If he goes that route he has taken his first step towards eventually losing his job.

Save it!!!!!! No one except maybe Crespo believe that s*** around here. I follow my Red Sox all over the country and have been making trips for the last six-plus seasons. I wonder how many times you go to Dodger Stadium to see your club. So cut the crap about bandwagon ********. No one is buying it.

Why don't you read the post as is written and not try to insinuate any hidden meanings. I'm talking about the here and now. Are you honestly trying to compare Gagne with Papelbon at the present time? You're not that nuts. Gagne a few years ago was the best around. He is no longer that; his arm, elbow and legs have given him nothing but trouble the past few years. Red Sox fans worry that Papelbon could go the same way, but he takes better care of himself than Eric did. No pot belly and better conditioning and eating habits if you care to know.
-
You don't sound like you're worried a bit. Worry. Worry very badly. What is it? Four in Arizona and three at home against the Padres? You blow these two series and you might yourselves up s*** creek.
-
Chin, I was there watching Papelbon Friday and Sunday and you see it as it is. The guy is absolutely unreal. That last pitch to Adrian Gonzales on Friday just disappeared when it got to the plate. Adrian missed it by a foot. No s***!!!! I know some of the Dodger crowd here are talking up Saito and he is a good closer, a very good one. No one, however, is in Papelbon's class---and to think he is only 26 years old and wants to close for his whole career. Hell, he hasn't even entered his prime years yet. :D :D :D

Riverside, grin and bear it. yeszir let these guys on the board to avoid a "war". You either go along to get along or get out. Sad, but that's the way it is. Hopefully, the better angels of their nature will take over and we can have some real baseball arguments and none of the petty s*** that we've seen.
-
Saito is a very solid closer, no doubt about that--and he has done some of his best work against the Giants and Padres. However, you cannot be real and try and tell any of us that you would take him over Papelbon. You cannot be serious.
-
Rdsx, yeszir is calling the shots and he let these guys on this board to avoid a flaming war between the talksox posters and the DB crowd. You can either grin and bear it or leave the board, sad to say. Hopefully the clamor dies down and we can discuss the Dodgers the same way we do the Yankees with Jacko and 228. I think we have a lot more going for us than they do. Unless we completely fall apart this summer we may finally win an AL East Title for the first time in 12 years and go on from there. The Dodgers? Even though I predicted they would win the West, it looks like improved teams like Colorado and Arizona are in the race to stay, and the Padres are as great an overachieving team as there is.

Drew is up to near 250 and is starting to hit consistently again and we feel he is going to be a very productive hitter for us the rest of the year. Are you that confident in Betemit? I needed someone to compare with Lugo and he was the first player that came to mind. Drew got off to a fast start and then inexplicably slumped. I believe he is going to be very solid for us the rest of the year. You're glad he's gone from the Dodgers; I'm happy he is on our team so we both got our wishes. -
Riverside, I was scoreboard watching at Petco yesterday and to be truthful shocked to see the Giants take it again to the Yankees. Not that I'm ready to think they are ready to cash in their chips but they seem to play a lot less effectively away from home, and it is great to see that we have pick up four of those games we lost to them during our slump. My next thought is what is George Steinbrenner up to? He is not going to sit still for this; my guess the checkbook is coming out and a persual of those available players being showcased by their teams is now under way.

That's what I meant rician. Fortunately I live in the suburbs about 20 miles from that slag heap, but as far as cities go LA is a shitpile, and I've finally come to the realization that the Dodgers are really playing where they should. Tough for an native Brooklynite to finally admit but very very true. -

Another Dodger ******* on this board. The moderators crashed when they let you guys back on and they will live to regret it, but you can find me anytime you want loser. Sooner or later your ass will be off here regardless of what alias you use. As for your team, great job, losing to a guy who hasn't won a game in two years and about ready to get crapped on by Arizona and San Diego. Start getting our your 2008 Next Year Buttons. Your team is going nowhere and fast. As for what is a slag heap? Take a good look in the mirror and take a good look at your team. Even a crud like you could figure it out. What is it now? 23 losses in 27 games in inter-league road games? Man, does your team stink!!!! -

MTB, right!!!! Just win. I remember how some here were downgrading a couple of pitchers we were going to face in Oakland and Colorado and we would up with a big "L" for our efforts. Just outpitch, outhit and outscore them PERIOD and pick up that extra half-game on the Yankees. One good thing; we will be able to put our nine best hitters on that field if Francona can resist putting Lugo's name on that lineup card. Next to the Dodgers' Wilson Betemit, he is probably right now the worst looking hitter in baseball. -

I hated it when Paps went 3-2 on Branyon to lead off the ninth inning; didn't want a walk to open the frame, but knew if Jonathan threw a decent fastball Russ would be walking back dejectedly back to the dugout. He got him, naturally. I'll say this for the Padre fans. They were amazed at the rabid loyalty of Red Sox fans. We took over the stadium those three nights but their fans took it well and wished our team good luck. Most of us told them back that we'd like to see them in the WS. San Diego is one helluva town, beats SF all to hell now and no need to mention the city of LA which has become the slag heap of the West. -

The Padres are a tougher team than most people think, and they have supplanted the A's as the second best ML team in California. They have outstanding starting pitching, a knock-out bullpen and all they need is one more solid hitter and they could actually make it to the WS. As for the fans, they are loyal and pretty damn knowledgeable which is more than I can say for some fans of other teams in the West. One thing Padres fans all seem to have in common and that is an intense dislike for the Dodgers; man, do they despise them. They hate Bonds but think the Giants are ok and would like to meet the Angels in the WS if they could get there, but their animus for the Dodgers is unreal. Can't figure out if it is jealousy that the Bums have so much money and draw so well, or a total lack of respect because they are such an underachieving team. Anyway, Red Sox Nation took over Petko over the weekend, and the sports bars were packed with BoSox fans. It was a real hoot. Not to mention that we gained a game over the weekend on the Yankees. -

We all figured out yesterday at Petko that it was Francona'a usual crappy matchup nonsense again. He seems to have a hard time figuring out that hitters and pitchers change. Lugo got the collar again, big surprise, and Lowell did drop on in right for a hit and an RBI but struck out and hit into a DP. Glad we are back in the AL again where we can use all our bullets. Youk sitting the last two games was ridiculous. It is time to sit Lugo down and keep him there until Cora shows signs of wear. Better yet, go out and get someone to play short who can get a hit once in a while. -
Ha!!! Someone just sent a me a private post that the little s*** Crespo will pay some money for turning off the power in San Diego if I want to send you guys a message. Two things wrong with that. First he can't read and, second, the little s*** probably has never seen the hundred or so dollars that he says he will pay. See, you little sawed off runt, there are people here who know what an ******* you are. Try rooting for the Dodgers. You've got the persona for it----a real loser.
-
You might? Not me. Ellsbury is the type of player that can ignite an offense and I think from what I saw of him at Oregon State that he can be an even better player than Pedroia. BTW, they played against each other in the Pac-10. No, let's try and get them to take Crisp; no doubt after what we've seen this year we are going to need a leadoff man next year and for a long time. Signing off now. Getting ready for my trip to San Diego tomorrow and that big three game series. If there is anything of significance I will send a missive if the hotel I'm staying at has a computer in the lobby and if I can get on it if they do. Let's not have any letdown now. We have regained some ground; let's keep it.

I just thought of something since we are on the subject of trades. We just got through with a series with the Atlanta Braves and Coco Crisp had to impress that team with his hitting, speed and defense, right? Since they are most likely to led Andreu Jones take a hike this winter anyone think of a big trade between our two clubs where we might be able to package Coco and a prospect, player or a combo for Jarrod Salatamachhia, and maybe a young infielder?????? The Braves are going to need a CF next year and they have no speed that I know of, not do they need JS since they tied up McCann to a long term contract just recently. The guy is projected to be a solid ML catcher, has a strong arm and some say he is a 25 homer man. As much as some of you seem to like the one we got from SD last summer, George Kotteras, he is doing nothing down at Pawtucket, either with average or power, and I was a little taken back at how the Padres just seemed to hand him over for an over-the-hill 40 plus year old pitcher who said he was retiring at the end of the season but didn't.
