  1. Hey my good friend, I'm taking a hiatus until tomorrow. Going to the movies to see the new Liam Neeson flick about the wolves. Knowing my love of canines, I'll probably be rooting for them over the pale faces. Have a great evening.
  2. And who says they will? You? Are you certain on that? No, you're not, anymore than some of us who say they won't. It's conjecture. The problem is you and 305 don't like what some of us say because we disagree with both of you. To each his own; we'll see how this plays out. Again, everything has to go right this year for the Red Sox to win the division and go deep in the playoffs. That is my opinion, not y ours, mine, and I'm entitled to it. Most writers and pundits at this moment would tend to agree more with me, iortiz, 700, Pumpsie and Elktnnick than they do with you and 305. So let's see how this plays out. BTW, our friend 305 was one of the two posters who swore to mathewsala (sic) that I wasn't a Red Sox fan, no way in hell he said. If that didn't make him look like a complete fool I don't know what did, but I let it pass because to me it was no big thing. Now about you and him let some of us who disagree with your take on things have our say. It's all a matter of opinion now anyway.
  3. Maybe it takes a Yankee fan to make User and others understand that our potential success this year may be hanging by a thread Jacko. Maybe User will listen more to y ou than he does 700, iortiz or me. He seems to be off in his own little corner of the world. BTW, I said something very simiar earlier in a post and got nowhere. Maybe seeing it from your end will give him some religion on the matter.
  4. Well I hope you did a better job with your daughter than I did with mine when it comes to rooting for a baseball team. My daughter is an Angels Fan and so is my wife, my son-in-law, his three brothers and three sisters-in-law, his mom and dad, and six of the grandkids including my now six year old grandaughter. Only my three year old grandson stands in the way of making me totally isolated at 18-1.. If I can bring Kyle along I will only be out-gunned 17-2. Pretty bad, huh?:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown
  5. EX1, you called me out a couple of times and you didn't get under my skin. I appreciated your taking the time to try with your take on things to try "and set me straight" whether I agreed with your opinion of that given issue or not. Many of us came to this board (I did after a three year absence) because I heard that differences of opinion and red hot arguments were welcomed and encouraged. This was not the case with Sawheads as you might have heard. When the team collapsed last September as some of us predicted the other camp went ballistic, took their marbles like the pack of crybabies they were and started a new board. Good riddance. We're better off with gone now. This board isn't like that. To me we have posters who are willing to go out on a limb and be willing to take the heat when we screw up and that's the way it should be. This Hot Stove League baseball and differing opinions should be welcomed and encouraged. I know of no one here who is predicting our season is already in the toilet; we I've been hearing from some of the worried crowd is that we need to do more to get up to speed. No one however, is writing the season off in January.
  6. Let me be clear on something EX1. I agree we could have a very good team this year. However, because we haven't addressed some serious needs in the rotation department and at shortstop we have left ourselves with little margin for error. In my opinion if one of our key pitchers goes down for any length of period, if we lose a key bullpen reliever, or if one of our key regulars goes on the shelf, we could be in serious trouble. We need to stay healthy this season and we need the players to have solid seasons. We cannot afford "off years" from four or five of our players if we want to make it to the playoffs.
  7. No So Sport, nothing lost at all on Oswalt.....except for embarassment and humiliation for the deadbeats who are trying to run our team into the ground. Of course, there is the consolation that if we really need an arm in an emergency this season, we can, as Pumpsie put it, to call into the toilet to get one.
  8. You bet they are ducking for cover. Wouldn't you if you were left looking like a dumb moron? Of course, putting Valentine into this quandry can be eliminated if Bobby comes out and says whether it was true or not that he wanted Scutaro gone. I doubt he ever said that and if that is so I don't see why he has to take part of the rap for something Il Duce Lucchino or the Turnip were behind. This whole thing is one big clusterf***!!!!! Now I know why the team didn't go outside to get a fresh GM for the team. They figured that with Benny the emerging Boob in that position they could pretty much play organ grinder and monkey, that is when the Turnip wasn't running errands for Lucchino g etting him coffee and donuts.
  9. Perhaps you're coming to the conclusion that Cherington is in a little over his head. Welcome aboard. If you can make sense out of any of this, please enlighten me because I can only roll my eyes and wonder what the hell is going on.
  10. Well let me beat my pal 700 Hitter to the punch today and announce that once again we didn't get that No. 4 pitcher. We got John Wayne....errrr John Maine, a 84mph fireball whose best record was 6-5 for the miserable Mets. I do hold hold this hope. IF IF IF IF IF Beckett, Lester and Buchholz can stay healthy and pitch to their capabilities we still have a chance because we do have a fall back guy for the No. 4 spot----Alfredo Aceves. Say what you will, the guy knows how to win. He's a competitor and loves playing for the Red Sox and has something to prove to the Yankees, his old team that both dissed and ditched him. I don't like Bard as a starter because of his perceived lack of stamina since he had been only a one inning pitcher but maybe he will surprise. I'll tell you this: If Ken Williams is asking for a king's ransom for Floyd the Red Sox to tell him to shove it where the sun doesn't shine. See you all tomorrow!!!
  11. Red305---take heart, Valentine is not FrancoMa. He has both a pulse and a brain while residing in the dugout. The lineup will be ready. Take that to the bank.
  12. I wonder what VA or even User thinks about the signing of John "Battleship" Maine. I'll bet they're not too impressed either.
  13. Well Elk, you've given me an inspiration. How about Benny "Turnip" Cherington? Has a nice ring to it, don't you think?
  14. It was only moderately in the debit column until you had to spoil it my friend and mention the bags of refuse we signed. Aside from one Cherington clone and one over the top poster I think it is fair to say that this off season has not been our finest hour.
