  1. You could say that stupidity has devastated the Sox the last few years as well. As with Youkilis, the front office should have been aware that Drew was an injury waiting to happen as that had been his reputation his whole career. It is thus now with Youkilis who has been banged up the better part of now three seasons. He is injury prone PERIOD; his body is breaking down badly and we risk sending Middlebrooks down to keep him around. What if Will goes back down and gets hurt as Kalish did? No, SoxSport, this time the Red Sox must try and play it smart for a change. On Dennis and Callahan this morning one of the said that Youk wants to he traded where he could work for a good contract next year because he won't get it in Boston. This is the time to learn from our mistakes in the Drew-Kalish disaster, but as I've said often I have zero confidence in our front office Prune Face Henry has his head up his ass and his mind elsewhere, Lucchino is too busy trying to exercise control over everyone to see what's happening in front of his eyes, and Cherington is not only in over his head, he is a total dweeb who is a risk adverse incompetent jerk. :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown
  2. For the most part you are spot on with that assertion Bob, but mark my words, a potential bruhaha is shaping up very soon when Youkilis comes off the DL and Cherington tried to force him back in the lineup at Middlebrooks' expense. This is lunacy taken to the Nth degree. What should be done in my opinion is give Youk the choice of tooling up with his outfield play or asking for a trade. I think the team will go in the tank if Kevin is given his position back and Will is sent back down. This is not the way to try to build a winning team and this is no time to start doing something like that when we are finally (I hope) starting to put some good games together.
  3. You would have to mention the 2007 team, wouldn't you MVP? That is my favorite Red Sox team and it was a terrific year for us. In fact, strange as it may seem, on Dirt Dogs I was actually one of three posters who told some of the doubters that we would not only hold on and win the division but would go all the way. I still wonder where I got my balls to do that since I tend to get very nervous when the Red Sox seem to go in the tank but I just loved that team. I think all of us should agree that the front office is there for open season on our part if we think they are screwing up, and players can also come under attack but we should all refrain from attacking one another---and I have to say for the most part the vast majority of us do just that. Disagreements are part of what make a board like this enjoyable and we all try to argue our points, and to be honest I really have had only a couple of people who have irritated the crap out of me with their personal attacks. I have really gotten to like the people here and hope they understand when I go off the handle I'm mad only at the front office and some of the players who I don't think are giving their all or doing the job.
  4. I went around with some on this board this winter and some on the new flunky board called STFU about Cherington , but there can be no doubt now that this guy is nothing less than a total f***ing idiot. On no other team would a young player performing well be sent down so an injury prone sacred cow can get his old job back that he never should have kept because of his inept play, not to mention that the guy is a physical wreck waiting to happen. I just wonder what this is going to do to Middlebrooks' morale and spirit to be discarded this way. Prune Face Henry and his cohorts should sell the team as soon as they can because they have undone all the good they've accomplished and turned the leadershop of this club into Clowntown. Hey Prune Face, hit the f***ing road and take Lucchinoturd and Cheringpuke with you, and for God's sake let's hope the media, press, and fandom rid these bastards so unmercifully that they will sell and sneak out of town like the slimy rats they are.
  5. You have to understand that Jacksonianmarch would rather have us keep McDogshit around because when we play the Yankees he would be a total eunoch while Nava might actually get a couple of hits for us and cost his beloved New Yorkers the game. Never heard him tear down McDonald for being a worthless s***, so right there his credibility is halfway between the toilet and the outhouse.:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown
  6. You take is predicated on the assumption that Cheringpuke knows what the hell he's doing. Let me let you in on a little secret.....HE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE'S DOING because he is one bungling and inept turd. Besides, he takes his orders from Lucchino and the latter takes his from Prune Face Henry---and they are not going to eat an $11 million contract no matter how many games it costs us. The only out is if some team that could use a combo- 3B-1B, like maybe the deep pocket Phillies, jump in and make a trade----say a Youkilis for Blanton swap. Otherwise, another major screw up will ensue. On any other team, Youk would be a Wally Pipp when he returns but we have seen how thoroughly inept our front office is---at least we should have seen it last winter---I'm afraid Will might actually be sent back to Pawtucket for what the f ront office will blatantly call "more seasoning". It is then the media, press and fans should rise as one and literally drive these bastards out of town. :thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown
  7. Hey old buddy, I was told you were now a regular here. We miss you over at the other place and I notice you have your sword out for Killboi. I don't see what his problem is since he never posts on SH any more but confines himself to that new bumbling board. Well it's good to see you here. I was posting regularly on this board until I took a month off because I didn't want to explode at some fellow posters and get myself suspended or banned. We were really sucking when I left on April 12th. We still are not doing much better but, who knows, we may actually start playing consistent ball.....maybe!!!! Let's face it, though. Our starting pitching has been horse s*** since Day One and most of the fault lies with the so-called "Pig Three" who have pitched like a trio of porkers. Anyway, looking forward to communicating with you. Besides, you owe me a phone call.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
  8. The next step is to get McDonald out of Boston on the next plane. He has been utterly worthless this season as he was last season, and except for a game winning hit in his very first game for us in 2010, he has been more a liability than an asset. He can't it, save for against a few mediocre lefthanders, he is a lousy fielder and a poorer base runner who is a potential pick off victim every time he gets on base.
  9. MVP---I think Youk is a done deal after this season and it wouldn't take any courage on Cherries part since it would save Henry close to 14 million dollars. However, I would like to see something done sooner if possible. Sure, Middlebrooks could suddenly go in the tank and flop miserably, but you've seen him play and you've seen him bat. You think this guy isn't the real thing? Third base is now covered for the next 10-12 years if Will stays healthy and the Red Sox don't screw up. I am not risk adverse like Cherries is but the payoff hoping Youk will get hot and then the market will open up for him this summer is fool's gold in my opinion. What is more likely to happen is that he keeps going South with his play and then gets hurt and in and out of the lineup. As good as he's been for us, he is fast becoming a sunk cost and it is time to move on. We have a very good replacement and one who could be a big part of our future. This is no time for Cherries or Lucchino or Henry to gum up the works on this issue. BTW, did you get out to LA this month or last?
  10. Make that three in a row my friend. However, we have to keep in mind that after winning three straight from the Rays, Twins and White Sox we went back into the tank again. It would be swell if this time we put a real winning streak together and try to get out from under but as long as Beckett, Buchholz and Lester are pitching like a pack of crumbs we will be gasping for air. Tomorrow Lester, who has been nothing short of s*****, has a chance to redeem himself and help us get what we haven't all year....a four game winning streak. Maybe if he can finally do something decent for a change, a few of the pessimistic thoughts around here will start to ebb away.:dunno::dunno::dunno::dunno::dunno::dunno:
  11. That's the best course of action in my opinion as well. There is no way in hell that the Red Sox should send Middlebrooks down to the minors again. He seems like the real thing and has a great future for us. Youk has no trade value to speak of at the present time and, frankly, I don't want to give him some by playing him and relegating Will somewhere else, either the bench or Pawtucket. It is time to turn the page on that one. Besides, we all know now that Kevin will not be with us next year and the only question would be if Henry would be willing to eat the contract and release him if he starts to act up when he comes back because of a lack of playing time.
  12. I'm glad to see that so many of you refuse to get down and are hoping for better days ahead, and maybe we will get them. I happen to be one of those fans who is subject to go off on a rant when I see our team playing as they have since last September, and I think you people deserve better than that so I am going on a hiatus from this board for a month to cool down. When I get back on May 12, I think it will be obvious whether this slump is temporary or whether we are in for a very bad year. If the latter's the case I will have accepted it by then and hope the team will promote some of their younger players like Middlebrooks, Lavarway and Iglesias and start retooling by also jettisoning some of the old crew. Good luck to all of you and to the Red Sox. See you in a month.
  13. I've maintained here and on two other boards that the Red Sox were not physically or mentally prepared for the 2011 season. That 12 game losing streak toward the end of Spring Training needed some pro-active leadership on the part of Francona---and it got none. I think that possibly a culture of losing came out of that because we were DOA when the season began and a total collapse that place in September was always a possibility with this team. Was Francona on pain killers? Did the breakup of his marriage have a negative effect on his outlook? These are possibilities. What is a certainty is that Prune Face is an owner with as much PR ability as a snail and between him and Lucchino they made a joke of the team last season and seemingly now as well. While no Francona man, the filth and garbage that someone let loose on him was classless and disgusting. I'm more and more starting to believe that we may never dig our way out of this until the current ownership sells the team so Prune Face and his woman can watch their beloved soccer team in England and Lucchino can take his snakeoil somewhere else.
  14. Good points Youk but we are seeing about last season right now---we aren't playing worth s*** and that is the issue now. In that case today looks a lot like last September. However, even though I was not a Francona man the stuff coming out now in Shaunessy's column is telling me that Lucchino could really be a mean and vindictive *******.
  15. How about today SCM? Three f***in' hits and Shoppach gets a collar too. I keep rolling my eyes about so many of our colleagues think we need more and more defense because our hitting will be so strong. Hitting is the most inconsistent part of the game and it is inevitable that on every Red Sox team there will be two or three or maybe four guys having off years. Salty has been s*** piled high since last August and his defense is no better than what Ryan Lavarnway could give us, plus with Ryan we would have a solid young power hitter. Youk looks lost, Ross left his hitting in Florida and does anyone think McDonald will do anything worthwhile now that the real games have begun? Yes, it is early in case someone wants to remind me of that, but this teaj gives every indication that it might be a pig. 1-5 is barely better than the 0-6 embarrassment we hung on ourselves last season. We have a tough home stand coming up against some damn good teams. If we continue to flounder maybe Cherington should come out of his stupor and bring up Lavarnway and maybe Middlebrooks and start doing in reality what we're seeing right now---a team that may need to rebuild. This homestand will tell all of us what chance we have this season.
  16. Well since you put it that way, I can I say no User. Promise---no rose colored glasses for at least a week. Now you do me a favor and use your influence to get us another win tonight. Deal?????
  17. As you said Pumpsie, when you have both Albers and Bowden to choose from it is fright night, but why stop there? Put Melandrop into the mix and you have the Three Stooges. Now that is a frightening sight. We won tonight and that's g ood but that loss Sunday is going to stay with me for awhile as it will most likely with you and all our colleagues who aren't wearing rose colored glasses. Maybe Padilla will surface as a consistent bullpen man, and BTW, I think we should strongly consider bringing Cook up from Pawtucket. Our rotation doesn't look so hot either. Bard tomorrow? Keep our fingers crossed.
  18. I don't know who worked out this bullpen stuff but whoever did created one big cluster@@ck!!!!!!!! Now with Aceves saving the game today with a 1-2-3 inning this is what we'll probably be facing for at least another week until he either melts down again, solidifies his position with a few more saves, or someone g ets smart in the FO and puts him in the long reliever or the 8th inning set-up position. Bard tomorrow will also likely dictate which direction our fouled up front office will go.
  19. ORS, if this guy is who I think he is, don't worry. He has senior moments all the time. He will get it straight sooner.....or later.
  20. Just so everybody knows, that was NOT me. He spoke the words I would have spoken yesterday but glad someone else did it instead. Good win tonight, but we need to win this series and Bard will be in the crosshairs tomorrow. He needs to prove that he belongs in the rotation to those of us who have some doubts whether he should be there or not. It would also be nice for our team to put some numbers on the scoreboard and for Youkilis to wake up and make a contribution. Atchison? Great job tonight as Padilla did yesterday, but I have some doubts if Atch can keep doing that during the year. Would be great if he could. I do think Padilla might turn out to be a nice surprise and we need some nice surprises this season.
