  1. Did I miss it in the papers or the scandal sheets that Lucchino or Cheringpuke is sleeping with Darling Darnell's mother? Otherwise, how the hell could this piece of trash be once again polluting our team? He can't hit, he can't field, and on the bases he is a menace to himself and the team by always being a candidate for a pick off. There is something very putrid about this call up. He was hitting under 200 at Pawtucket and should never have been called up. The guy sucks. I would bet that if he was DFA'd no one would pick him up. I support the move of Bard to the minors because he needs to get his head back together even though it is 50-50 that he will fail down there as well. He might be ruined by now, but to bring Darnell up to take his place? What for? The guy simply stinks.
  2. The BarF experiment has been a colossal failure. Can't we all just come right out and admit it? If today wasn't the clincher I would suggest those of you who still will not give up the ghost get yourselves a deeper pair of rose colored glasses. I only hope we haven't ruined the guy by misuse as we did with Hansen a few years back. Anyone remember him? I don't know if the mound rodent has learned to challenge the hitters more and will be an effective pitcher for us, but right now I would take Dice K over BarF in a heartbeat. If not him, then Cook, but Bard e ither has to go back to Pawtucket to learn how to pitch or be sent to the bullpen to work his problems out. I also think we should let Bobby pick his own pitching coach. I once said that I didn't think Bob McClure had the right stuff for this job and though that was only my opinion, the results of our staff being the third worst in baseball speaks volumes. After this season Bobby should be allowed to pick his own pitching coach and that should be Bob Apodaca, who was his pitching coach when he managed the Mets to the WS in 2000.
  3. We need to develop some young pitchers and maybe in a hurry. Trading Barnes would be very foolhardy, and, like you, I don't see the comparison between Hanley and Starlin. Hanley has power and is a run producer while Castro has little power and a very poor OBA for a 300 hitter. He is also a pretty mediocre fielder and prone to kick the routine play. We have to tred very carefully on any trade along these lines and hope that Epstein doesn't run the tables on his former assistant flunky Cherington who seems more incompetent by the day.
  4. I vented elsewhere so I will let my alter ego take over here. The BarF experiment has been an abject and total failure and it time to pull the plug....way past time to do it. I only hope we haven't screwed this guy up as we did with Hansen and a few others over the years. We are back in last place and that's who we are until we start winning consistently over a longer period of time. No more BarF in the rotation, that has to be assignment No. 1. I also notice that Middlebrooks wasn't in the lineup again. Notice when he plays we win and when he doesn't we don't. See a little pattern there? I'm happy we took two of three from the Blue Jays, and I really didn't think we would win today so I'm not that surprised that we didn't but we have another homestand coming up and that's what concerns me. We have "Shitbag" Lester opening for us tomorrow against the Orioles and he has been nothing short of s***** this season. We can only hope he finally steps up tomorrow and starts earning his keep and that the offense shows up with him. Not a big fan of Francona as most of you know, but I think Lester threw him under the bus when he joined forces with those miscreants last September. To me he showed himself nothing less than a follower or lacky and from that point I developed a deep animosity towards him. His lousy pitching hasn't helped change my mind on the crud either.
  5. Wow!!!! We totally agree on something MVP. That's my opinion as well. I kind of like Byrd but other players are doing better and are more productive. McDonald on the o ther hand is full horseshit, can't hit, is a lousy fielder, and totally a dunce on the basepaths. He is no match for Ross, Nava or even Podsednik. Again, though, I want Middlebrooks on the Red Sox and not down at Pawtucket and that is why I strongly believe we must trade Youkilis before he goes back on the DL, which I'm thoroughly convinced he will.
  6. You're right Forsythe; the Cubs don't want and need Youkilis because they are in full rebuilding mode. I hope I don't eat these words since I'm going to Chi Town to see the Red Sox play them in a three game series in less than two weeks, but the Cubs right now have a terrible team and they want to unload contracts, not take on new ones of older players. They are even hinting of eating most of Soriano's contract if they can get a team to take him. To get Garza, Epstein would want a king's ransom and we can't give that to him. One good prospect and one average one should be all we offer for him because the Yankees will not offer any more. For us to trade Youkilis it would have to be a team that is in contention and want to get an experienced bat in their lineup, but that team would have to have a good prospect or two to give us back, and some teams like the Dodgers don't have those types and neither do some of the other teams like the Mets or the Phillies.
  7. I have always believed that when the time came for a young player to be called up, it was time for him to be called up....PERIOD!!!!!! I think they did Lavarnway a real disservice by keeping him down for another year and it may have stunted him. That is my opinion. He is every bit as good a defensive catcher as Satalamacchia and with some experience in playing the outfield it might have been a good idea to test him out there in the Spring to see if he could handle playing out there as well as starting out as backup catcher. Now I don't know what is going on inside his head but if he feels that he has been misused it could stunt him. I hope not but the Red Sox have been very reluctant to promote their prospects in recent years and some of them langish in the minors. I hope Ryan comes around and has a big year, but he had a big one last season and should have been promoted this year. Again, this is my opinion.
  8. Sorry guys but I've heard about enough of this nonsense via Youk and the Cubs to nearly drown me. Youk is not going to the Cubs because the Cubs don't want him. They don't want him because they are ready to go into a full fledged rebuilding mode. It would take two good prospects to get Garza and please put Youk out of your talks. He goes only to a team that feels it has a chance to go deep into the post season this year. I do like the idea of letting Cecchini play some second because unless Pukington and Il Duce really blow it again Middlebrooks should be stationed at third base f or a long time, and we don't know whether the Sox will crap out in resigning Pedroia when his contract ends in three years. In fact, I would trade Youk NOW before he gets injured again and goes on the DL. Then we have a white elephant we can't get rid of this season because no one would give us much for him and we would hold onto him and keep running him out to third to the detriment of Middlebrooks' development. Start the rebuilding job we need right now because we are not going anywhere this season. Lester, Beckett, Bard and Buchholz have made that clear with their miserable pitching so far this year.
  9. I got to hand it to you EX1, you can challenge me very well and still show class all the way even if I disagree with what you're sending back to me. Anger at the front office comes from my belief that they would risk not playing the best men in order to try to trade a player that might not be traded because of salary and Henry's refusal to eat any part of that contract. We've seen this scenario before in 2010 with Mike Lowell. There were four or five potential trades that went nowhere because Prune Face wouldn't eat any salary. Besides, Youkilis has made injuries and the DL list a cottage industry the past two and half seasons and one more trip there negates any value he has unless we trade him now---which we can't because of Pedroia's injury. See the dilemma? I would still trade him NOW if we could because Middlebrooks is a big part of our future and needs to play and not be jerked around. You say Valentine cannot handle Gonzales like a spare part and I guess you are right on that, my bad. However, when you have a productive, high talented and a big upside ballplayer like Middlebrooks you play him. Still, I will hand it to you you know how to counter an argument you disagree with by still being very civil. BTW though. Aren't you one of the "infamous three" on this board who insisted I was not a Red Sox fan when I came back on after a three year absence? I know 305 and MVP were the two others so if you are the last part of that triumvirate you need a mea culpa. I know damn well that you know who I root for now. :):):)
  10. EX1 brought up a good topic, but just to make sure he was on the sunny side of the street, YOU weren't talking about trading Middlebrooks and Lavarnway, were you? That would be absolutely insane. These are two right handed power hitting players who have a big upside and a great future if the front office will stop screwing around and put these in the lineup and keep them there. Unless we're talking about a King Felix we don't trade either one of these guys. We should be talking right now with someone for Youkilis before he get wounded again and goes back on the DL. If that happens another plan of our bungling front office blows up in their face. It's a wonder they have any face left after all their blunders the past few years. Does anyone know of any credible starting pitchers who might be on the block right now? I mean the way Shitbag Lester and Turd Buchholz have been pitching it wouldn't be much of a loss to toss them aside. And I still insist Bard belongs in the bullpen. Is it still possible Lester and Bucky could rebound? It's getting tougher to seeing that happen.
  11. Lucky again you say? When the hell is that going to be. That lady has been out to lunch since the end of the 2007 World Series. We've been hit with massive injuries, miserable managing from the dugout, an inept front office, players failing repeatedly in clutch situations, miserable signings of FA, and when we try for that low risk, high reward mantra it blows up in the team's face. It is hard to think of too many teams who have fallen as far as we have the past five seasons. The fact is that right now we suck!!!!!!!!!
  12. Well EX1, if they're reading this in Japan maybe I'll shock them too. Good retort by the way. I might even put on Casablanca tonight as an inspiration. Hey, how did you like our ninth inning comeback tonight? We haven't done that much lately. I hope it starts a trend.:harhar::harhar::harhar::harhar:
  13. The hatred of the Tampans can be attibuted to sour grapes on the part of Red Sox fans because we have been embarrassed by that team since 2008, while Madden made a monkey out of Francona countless times in games we could have won but lost. Now we hear someone making what might be a racial remark against a Rays pitcher and some people here shake it off as if it doesn't mean anything. Assuming it was racial Upton, an ******* himself, had every right to give the fan his all. This could be all ended if we start beating this team regularly and get the managing and front office expertise that they have gotten. We haven't gotten that. Winning could cure all....and we haven't done that either since 2007. Way too long to suit me.
  14. As someone said, what the hell is a topic like this doing on a baseball thread? Schill's business is going belly up. Big efen deal; businesses go under all the time. As long as he can pay his workers back pay there should be no nasty bullcrap coming down the pike. For my part I have a sticker on my car that simply says LIBERALS MAKE ME SICK, and if you don't happen to be one of my few liberal friends it means stay the f*** away from me if you have any inclination to start jabbering about any leftist ********. It works and my three liberal friends respect my feelings and I respect theirs. And no liberals bother me at all.
  15. The vast majority of fans there will be fine. I've only had trouble with one smart ass in the times I've been to either Yankee Stadium. You might even be shocked to find a pretty friendly atmosphere.
