  1. Even the Yankee announcers were saying it was intentional. It was retaliation for Posada getting hit where all the announcers have said looked like a ball that got away from Jason Johnson.
  2. Yeah, i agree with Sweet Chin Music. I don't see why Seanez gets killed on this board so often. He hasn't been perfect but whose been so much better in the bullpen other than Pappelbon?
  3. Personally, a die hard fan myself, I don't understand the obsession other die hard fans have in needing to put down people who aren't as devoted as they are. Not everyone is going to revolve their lives around baseball, and I see nothing wrong with that. I welcome anyone who wants to support the Red Sox. I guess some people are just jealous they can't get seats at fenway because people who aren't as big of fans as they are take up the seats, but Fenway is still the best place to see a game.
  4. Great pick, if they get the kid signed. He's represented by Boras and only slipped for signability reasons.
  5. Alright, you need to go home with that ball, then to first, just in case. Also, Gonzalez made a great play to turn that. Pauley has potential if he can throw strikes.
  6. Classic AROD, the 3rd out would be nice here.
  7. While we can't judge too much from one start, we'll get some evidence tomorrow on just how effective pedro will be against an AL team. Luckily for him he'll still get to face a pitcher along with melky cabrera and bernie williams.
  8. OBP of .321 last year, SLG % of .378, not very good.
  9. Yes he's a different pitcher but I have to agree with Teddyballgame on this one. He'd be good in the American League, but i don't think he'd be contending for any cy youngs. I think his ERA would be in the high 3's and he wouldn't go as deep into ballgames. The AL East was really getting good at getting his pitch count up and taking advantage as he tired later in games. He'd still be a good pitcher, but i think the NL has made a big difference. Just look at Bronson Arroyo.
  10. Good to see the Homer, but Chen isn't a lefty killer. His career numbers against lefties are actually worse than his numbers against righties. These are the types of lefties Trot can hit. Any lefty who is better on lefties owns him, and i think he should be watching against most lefties once coco is back.
  11. Maybe you could've gotten Derek Lowe and Jason Varitek for him? Obviously kidding, I know no Yankee fan would like that trade looking back.
  12. Without looking up the numbers, best 6-8 year stretch or any pitcher ever. His last 2 with Montreal plus 5 or so with Boston. Compared to league average he was easily better than Koufax, and anyone else. If you want to talk longevity Cy Young clearly has Pedro as does Clemens, Maddux and a number of other pitchers.
  13. The worst part is I think the law is on his side. I hope I'm wrong.

    Draft

Highlight video of first round pick Laurence Maroney here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwBbBY0tf6E&search=Laurence%20Maroney including his 93 yard TD run last year.
  15. I'd like to jump in here and say that Hafner, other than Ortiz, is the best hitter in the names you've all thrown out here and in this particular post you rate him as the worst. .394 OBP career and its been over .400 for the last 2+years, .566 slugging career but once again higher than that the last 2+ years. I'd argue the most underated player in baseball.
  16. He didn't say anything negative before he was traded. Rumors were going around in spring training that he might get traded. We had a surplus of players that played his positions and needed pitching. For weeks all he talked about was how much he liked it here and didn't want to leave. Then we traded him and all of sudden he hates the city of Boston and is glad to be gone. He hates the administration and doesn't think they knew what they were doing. He compares himself to Jeff Bagwell leading to the great Rob Neyer quote that went something like, "Bagwell was 21 and had a pretty good shot of becoming a great player. Shea Hillenbrand is 28 with a pretty good shot of becoming 29." Other things I didn't like about Shea, he would always start out well in April in May then fall apart the rest of the season. He has no concept of the strike zone and will swing at pitches way out of the strike zone. He's not better than Lowell or Youkilis, and J.T Snow and Choi have a chance to contribute more. So no, i don't think bringing him back would be a good idea.
  17. Put me in the category of people who think he might be having an ok year if he were still here, but nothing close to the level he's pitched at so far in the National League. He may have had a good breaking ball so far this year, but last year he was inconsistent with it. Maybe 1/3 of his starts it was really breaking, and without that pitch he is beyond mediocore. Its gotta help facing a pitcher and not a DH.
  18. Well its official, the Red Sox sweep the first series with the Yankees!

    Draft

It seems they've been on best available player since the 3rd, not need(except maybe the K). The last TE they took can play FB too. If he's any good at it thats a pretty big need, except we don't use one. We might not use one cuz we don't really have one though.

    Draft

Pats traded up for Chad Jackson in the 2nd! I love it.

    Draft

Winston Justice is also falling, and further than Lendale White as most expected him to be gone by 15. He's also the 2nd rated OT in the draft.

    Draft

There is no question Williams was the better college RB. Obviously the Pats feel Maroney's skills translate better to the NFL. They're probably right. He's a lot bigger back.

    Draft

11 Defensive players off the board, 3 QB's 1RB and 1OL. Seems to be more value left on the offensive side of the ball. Still impossible to guess what the pats are going to do. Chad Jackson Deangelo Willaims Santonio Holmes Bobby Carpenter Just a few guesses

    Draft

Wow, Bills screw up big time. They definately could've traded down and still got that guy.
  25. I think you have a solid group of guys in the low minors that are in the too soon to tell category. With what Bowdon and Bucholz have done in the low minors its rediculous to say they probably won't make it. Its also a little soon to say they're can't miss prospects. I'd put Bucholz, Bowden, Ellsbury, Lowrie, and Emart in that category.
