  1. Both are expendable for Crisp in my eyes, if you had read the posts the subject switched as to what we would rather deal for him, and I would rather deal Arroyo.
  2. Yeah, Arroyo should stay just becuase he has a year or two to reach his peak where as Clement is already somewhat there. Also Clement wa sjust never the same after Tampa.
  3. Agreed, Arroyo is expendable for Crisp, who should do well here, but is this contingent on Damon and what he does? or is it goin down no matter what? I wouldn't mind having him in RF.
  4. Here's Baseball America's take on marte:
  5. Yeah, I wouldn't mind him at all. He's a .276 hitter and only made 10 errors last year, though he mostly played at 2B. I think what the Sox are doin is their gunna lock up Loretta for a few years, and put Pedroia back at SS. It's the only logical thing to do in my mind, rather than get rid of Loretta, kepp the 33 yr old Aurillia, etc. Especially if Marte comes up big, wed have a very solid left part of the INF.
  6. These are all contingent on Damon, if he signs elsewhereand all. We had the Reed deal in place, but they signed Washburn, so now we have the Crisp deal in place. However, either the Eagle Tribune is on crack, or the Arroyo-Crisp deal is more correct. It would be a long way to fall from Ramirez, Sanchez for Beckett, Lowell, and Mota to Marte, Mota for Coco. They have got to be smarter than this.
  7. To me he isnt worth anything more than Youk and Alvarez, but he isn't worth any top spect. I wouldnt mind getting him for Youk and Abe, then we could pull the Clement-Reed deal to use him as a 4th OF and more in the future, I wouldn't mind seeing him in RF ir Nixon gets injured again.
  8. would you trade lester and someone else for him?
  9. Hey, who's to say that he can, there's been no proof other than the OBP that he's a solid hitter. I however think tha he can, he hit 7 HRs in 200 ABs back in 04, so double that and he projects at 15-16 HRs which is fine by me for him to stay. However, idk what management is thinking, they may question if he can hit for a whole season at the Majors, in which hes hit at a .265 average. They may want more then that, but I agree, his OBP is enough for me, he could become a very solid 2 hitter, moving along the leadoff hitter if he gets on, or giving papi a chance at some RBIs. WHo knows, but all I'm saying is sadly chances are he might not be what we're looking for.
  10. It just isn't in the cards for Youk to stay here long term, unless he suddenly finds a power surge or becomes a dead pull hitter and tries to hit it over that wall.
  11. I dont see how we could make this deal happen,e specially for 2 picthing porpects, and of course lester would have to be involved. ALso I'm not completely sold on Garland at all, then again i could be wrong. However I do not think Garland is worth Lester and another pitcher.
  12. Oh, gotcha, I wasn't serious about that, and would never want anyone to get seriously injured, if anything I meant for Beckett and RJ to give him hell by throwin 95 by him, my bad, so dont overreact.
  13. Not only that, everyone forgets that Beltran was touted as a 5 tool player, and that he's a .280 guy who can hit for power, run, and is good defensively. So really last year wasn't all that off for him, and that contract is based solely on his playoff year.
  14. Whats that supposed to mean?
  15. That's basically what we just said, they look very solid on paper, but who knows what the 2006 season will bring.
  16. Yeah, if your gunna challenge anyone in this forum, it aint him. Try Gabekaplerluver
  17. Yeah, he's definately a welcome replacement for me, and another youthfull player that may flourish here in Fenway. However I don't think Clement will stay with his 5.00+ ERA in the 2nd half, he was great at the begining of last year and held our rotation together, a lot of people have forgotten that. However, if Damon signs somewhere else, and we can't find a suitable replacement, I would welcome Reed with open arms.
  18. Totally agree, there's no question they clearly set themselves to us and have established themselves in the top three in our divison. Theyw ere a pain for us and the Yanks last year, and that was minus these three. I wouldv'e enjoyed watching Overbay hit in the AL, now I just wish RJ and Beckett will aim for his empty head. Only thing thats sets them from us is, as ksushi said, the questionablility of if they'll put it all together, etc. If they can though, watch out, they look very solid on paper as of now, but so did the (Boston) bruins at the begining of this year, it means nothing. If AJ, BJ, and Overbay can hold together they might overtake 2nd place in the East (and likely the WC).
  19. He didn't show good average last year batting .250+ i believe. He has been compared to Paul O'Neill/Johnny Helmet as in he can hit almost anything thrown at him. He was really hyped up as something special last year, and hopefully he can live up to that expectation. His defense is also above average, though his range is somehwat a factor, but other that he's good.
  20. Just another arm to an already stacked rotation, great deal for them, at leastfor now. Can't wait to his face in Fenway again. Hey RedSoxRooter, post that thing with Damon when he hit the granny off him.
  21. Ummm, YES!!! Hell yes would I do that deal, he's younger cheaper and waaaay more rpomising then either Encarnacion or White, not to mention Clement. He's got good defense (compared to Kotsay) and can hit just about everything in the zone (Paul O'Neill, Jonny Helmet) and is still developing [ower. He is highly praised for his lead-off abilities as well. However he did have a very underwhelimng season in the bigs last year.
  22. Yeah, as long as our guys perform I won't regret the deal, and wish the best for Hanley no matter what
  23. Then again, the pirates got Lyon when he was injured, all they did was send him back.
  24. If he can do his job defensively I'll be happy with him, and hey maybe he'll knock in a few runs.
  25. IMO this is more like the girlfriend telling everyone that they did the dumping, I mean honestly he didn't need to say any of this. Also his reason sucks: "The ball bounces too much, and my comfortability level wasn't right". Tell that to Pokey f***in Reese.
