    Buehrle throws way to many strikes. How many times has he had a hitter down 0-2 and then give up a hit? s***...waste a pitch once in awhile.

    The difference then and now is you had Pedro Martinez, Derek Lowe and a dominate Curt Schilling. You guys dont want to flirt with being down in the hole 0-2 again esp with that pitching staff. That said I still think you guys will win tonight behind David Wells.

    Yankees win game 1. Mussina was GREAT. You couldnt ask for much more at all. Gordon got 4 huge outs and that was it. Good win...this assures us that RJ will be pitching at worst with the series at 1-1.

    agreed, he has had one of the most overrated year for a pitcher. Just because you win 20 games it doesnt make you the automatic winner of the Cy Young. If you put Colon on the Twins and Santana on the Angels there would be no question. Santana would have won around 24 games. Colon on the other hand would be around 14 or 15.

    I agree, what Mussina has done tonight is exploit their weakness. Your brought it up in another thread. They are a VERY agressive team. Mussina has been throwing strike 1 and then expanding the strike zone and letting them get themselves out. Wang should take a page from this for tomorrows game.

    Yeah its the same for the Yankees and its worse though. They have to leave the east coast and fly all the way to the west. Not an easy trip AT ALL. I would guess they would go Wells. David will certainly take the ball. But as I said before the Red Sox have to hope it doesnt come to that.

    I just checked the schedule and there is only 1 travel day in this series. Which means that if Wells were to go in game 5 he would be going on 3 days rest. I would still go with Wells when you consider the options. If your the Red Sox you hope that you can finish them off in 4 because that game 5 will be tough.

    But thats the thing thought. Its been the norm for Clement over this 2nd half and over Clement's career. He has the stuff but he cant take that extra step.

    If Wells would be going on normal rest then its a no brainer to use him in game 5.

    Thats like saying if Mariano Rivera didnt walk Kevin Millar last year in game 4 things would have been different. I dont like using "If" because you can go on and on about how things would be different.

    The thing about starting Paplebon is that his arm is already use to one routine. I dont know if he would have the stamina to go 7 innings after being a reliever for as long as he has been.

    That really is amazing. The Vazquez comparison is a good one. Vazquez in the first half was flawless. Then the 2nd half came and he couldnt get anyone out. He was serving up HR's like they were hot cakes. The difference with Clement that I see if that he just flat out wild. He hits batters, walks alot of people. He gets himself into trouble.
