  1. IMO 40 AB is way to small of a sample size to say one way or another.
  2. What exactly is his complaining going to do? If he throws balls away and he doesnt play hard he wont get a contract past next season. Sheffield screwed himself when he added that option to his deal. He should know a contract is a contract. He has no leverage outside of sitting out a year which he wont do. He will play next year because he has to. Call his bluff.
  3. Sheffield has 2 options. He can play next season(for what ever team hes with) make his 13 mill and move on. Or he can sit out next season without pay. For some strange reason I think he will play.
  4. Its finally over. Is it 10 days untill teams can start signing free agents?
  5. Signing Pettitte would be a mistake. Way to injury prone to be depended on. Also on Mussina...for a team like the Yankees who print their own money why not pick up the option instead of giving Mussina a 2 year 20 something mill deal? IMO If we are going to keep him I'd rather play it year by year with him at this point in his career.
  6. Nick Johnson signed a 3 year extension. He wont be a FA untill after the 09 season.
  7. EH, I need to need more from him then 1 season in his contract year and there is no garentee that a team signs him to play CF. I thought I heard Soriano the other day reject a 5 year 70mill deal. Lets say Soriano sets the market and he gets 15 per season(That might be modest, he has to be aiming way higher then just 15 if he rejected 14 per year) do you think Carlos Lee is settling for much less then that?
  8. Did the Cards have him checked?
  9. I also doubt Wright comes back. They can buy him out. That leaves another spot open.
  10. I expect Mussina to be back. Mussina wants to come back and Cashman has made it sound like he wants him back. A 2 year deal should get it done. IMO I would prefer a 1 year 17 million dollar deal over a 2 year 20-25 mill deal because after next year I dont know if I'd want him back again.
  11. If they do away with it, then I would guess the Yankees would pick up Sheffield's option.
  12. I like your Nick Johnson idea Beckett. I wish the Yankees held on to him because they could really use a good defensive 1st basemen with some pop as opposed to Andy Phillips or starting the statue AKA Giambi at 1B.
  13. I wouldnt bother 26. He has a hard on for Jeter. I dont even blame him.
  14. Tigers in 4. The sooner the better lets get the off season started.
  15. I must say I havent been that happy about another team losing like that in a very long time. The Mut fans ran their mouth all year long. They deserve this crushing loss.
  16. Gordon is going to be a flat out stud. However A-Rod does have a no trade and hes not going to KC.
  17. Winning builds chemistry. I remember when Paul O'neill was traded to the Yankees there were some reports about how he was a bad teammate. A batting crown and 4 rings later and all of a sudden the Yankees are missing someone like that from their clubhouse.
  18. If your going to trade A-Rod make sure you get back unquestioned value. I liked your Bonds idea Crespo. I love how all of the fans say they dont want him on their team but the second he hits a HR in a game there will be no complaints. The only problem with having Bonds on the Yankees is they have too many DH's. I'd like to move Giambi over to DH and get a 1st basemen.
  19. Yeah it hurts. I'm gonna lay in bed for awhile now. You really hurt my feelings. As I said I'm looking at it from a Yankee stand point and I would want a top flight pitcher(I would even take a top flight pitching prospect like Homer Bailey) and a replacement for A-Rod. The Cubs IMO dont have much and from a Yankee stand point those are the only 2 I would want. If the Cubs dont want to do it then so be it. From what I understand the Yankees arent desperate to get rid of him right now. As you said he is a "trancendent talent". You just dont give those away that easy.
  20. Dennis Green's PC after the game was a classic.
