Exactly. I was going to say something along the lines of "Team USA are the Yankees of the WBC," but I figured someone else would do it for me.

This is pretty funny though. That a team with Alex Rodriguez, Chipper Jones, Mark Teixeira, Derrek Lee, Johnny Damon, Derek Jeter, Jason Varitek, etc. etc. has scored two runs in 10/11 innings (the same amount Team Canada did last inning, against Dontrelle Willis.)

If George had done it, he would have claimed responsibility for it; do you think he would ever turn down an opportunity to undermine Bud Selig himself in public? Some lower level person in the organization probably, seeing how opposed he has been to this whole thing, did this, thinking it was a good way to get on George's good side (if he has one.)

You're a complete moron if you think George Steinbrenner would let a sign go up with "Yankees" misspelled. The guy who demands perfection for, well, everything would let something with such an obvious mistake go on display for the public to see? Please.

Uh, George had nothing to do with the sign; if he had, "Yankees" would have spelt correctly. Not going to respond to the rest of the post, because I felt brain cells dying and lost a few IQ points just reading it.

Unless something like that happens, I seriously think this whole thing is a waste of time. If the DR or the US goes out there and wins it, big woop....baseball is already successful in those places. Losing (or, what's more likely to happen, getting massacred) won't promote baseball in South Africa or Italy or the Netherlands or any of those other countries where baseball isn't huge.
