  1. These out-of-market games are my favorites. I'm not in the New York City area and tonight's game is on UPN 9; usually they'd just show those games on the local Fox network, but not always. When they don't the game is shown on the public access channel, which means you just get the feed from the Stadium. And that means you get to hear what the announcers say during the commercials and before the game. My favorite moment from one of these games was last year, when you just saw Micheal Kay fixing his hair for like five minutes and then he said, "God, I am one good looking guy."
  2. From what I've seen, you're wrong about 95% of the time with predictions...so this post makes me optimistic.
  3. Because of tripod?
  4. He probably needs the "C" with that .259 BA.
  5. Well, that wouldn't be a complete tip off to the cops that something's wrong...
  6. Just for the record, Jeter doesn't wear a C on his uniform.
  7. Or the lengths some of you Red Sox fans will go to tear him down. Gosh, still bitter about Nomar? Or maybe .229 BA- Alex Gonzalez?
  8. I can remember, at least, one other time he has done that this year. Anyways, you can pick and choose and reject whatever stats you wish, but nobody who watches the Yankees could call Derek Jeter unclutch. Whether it's in the field, or with the bat, he consistently comes up big for this team, April to October (especially the latter.)
  9. BRACKET ONE Babe Ruth (New York Yankees) vs Joe DiMaggio (New York Yankees) Mickey Mantle (New York Yankees) vs Tris Speaker (Boston Red Sox) BRACKET TWO Ty Cobb (Detroit Tigers) vs Reggie Jackson (Oakland Athletics) Hank Aaron (Milwaukee Braves) vs Willie Mays (San Francisco Giants) BRACKET THREE Ted Williams (Boston Red Sox) vs Carl Yastrzemski (Boston Red Sox) Stan Musial (St. Louis Cardinals) vs Frank Robinson (Cincinnati Reds) BRACKET FOUR Pete Rose (Cincinnati Reds) vs Ken Griffey Jr. (Seattle Mariners) Ricky Henderson (Oakland Athletics) vs Manny Ramirez (Boston Red Sox)
  10. He came up HUGE for us last September when he got consistent playing time; I think it would be better to give him the chance to show us what he can do than just get rid of him (which the Yankees would have to do, as he has no more options.)
  11. You already have that, they call him "Manny."
  12. The jinx continues; Matt Stairs leads off the 5th with a single.
  13. I get frustrated trying to pronounce his last name. He frustrates a Yankee fan, that's a pretty positive thing to some of you I imagine.
  14. Santana has a no-no through 4 against the Royals (difficult task, I'm sure.)
  15. That's basically what I strive for most of the time. I love low bars.
  16. Do you regret yours? Oh snap! ....wait....
  17. 1 IP, 2 K, 0 ER? So...how does a Farnsworth - Loretta trade sound to you guys?
  18. Ah, thank you. I can't wait until Bubba's back...he's just one of those random players I really like for no particular reason.
  19. What happened to Bubba Crosby? It seems like he went down with that injury, then just fell off the face of the Earth. I don't remember seeing any injury updates on YES (a daily feature these days) that talked about him or reading anything about him recently.
  20. Yeah, because what he did in two games, coming off an injury, is really an indication of him as a whole. Closer and Late (2006): Jeter: 12 - 28, .429 AVG Ortiz: 6 - 29, .207 AVG RISP (2006): Jeter: 22 - 59, .373 AVG Ortiz: 18 - 69, .261 AVG Micheal Kay might be a ball washer, but it would appear you're more than happy to join him when a Red Sox player is the topic. And, please, nobody holds A-Rod in the company of Ortiz and Jeter when it comes to clutchness.
  21. A-Rod's June: 4 - 25, .160 AVG, 0 HR, 1 RBI, 0 XBH He's not even padding the stats right now!
  22. Another pathetic game from this team. And so the countdown to a Steinbrenner response begins... What's he going to do? Bash A-Rod again? Bash Torre? Trade some prospects for a quick fix? All of the above?
  23. Otsuka just loves dramatic endings...for the other team.
  24. A-Rod fails at the plate and then E-Rod shows up in the field. Unbelievable.
  25. After A-Rod fails to come through, Posada goes deep to put the Yankees on top.
