  1. Beckett to face familiar foe New York Yankees (13-11) at Boston (15-11), 7:05 p.m. ET By Ian Browne (mlb.com) The career splits for Josh Becket indicate that he's never faced the Yankees before. However, that only accounts for the regular season. Look on Beckett's resume for World Series statistics and his previous encounters with the Yankees speak loudly. In the 2003 Fall Classic, Beckett stymied the Yankees with a 1-1 record and a 1.10 ERA over two starts. The one win, of course, was not only in the Game 6 clincher, but it was on three days' rest. And it was in the hostile environment of Yankee Stadium that Beckett lifted his Florida Marlins to the top of the baseball universe. Now, he's trying to conquer the same nemesis, but this time, as part of the biggest rivalry in baseball. Beckett is Boston's marquee addition to the rivalry this year, and he'll face the Yankees on Tuesday night at Fenway Park as the Red Sox go after the sweep of this brief, two-game series. It's been nearly three years since the Yankees have seen him up close, but they remember what Beckett did. "He had a great presence on the mound that night, which is what stands out to me more than anything," said Yankees manager Joe Torre. "He has a lot of confidence. The only problem he's had over the last couple of years is being able to stay out there and take the ball every five days." Beckett had a great beginning for the Red Sox, winning his first three starts. But he's hit a bump in the road his last two outings. Staked to a 6-2 lead on April 21 in Toronto, Beckett allowed the Blue Jays to come storming back. He got the no decision but the Red Sox lost the game. In his last outing, Beckett was pounded by the Guardians, giving up nine runs (eight earned) over 3 2/3 innings. "No excuse. You just have to go out and execute pitches, and if you don't do that, balls get [belted] all over the place, just like they did," Beckett said following his Cleveland outing. He'll try to regain his groove against the powerful Yankees. The Red Sox did a solid job holding down the Yankees in Monday's opener, prevailing by a score of 7-3. Pitching matchup BOS: RHP Josh Beckett (3-1, 4.50 ERA) Beckett is coming off arguably the worst start of his career. In that humbling loss at Cleveland, Beckett was belted for a career-high nine runs, eight of which were earned. This will be the first time he's faced the Yankees since he conquered them in clinching Game 6 of the 2003 World Series. Beckett, then pitching for the Marlins, was the MVP of that Fall Classic. NYY: RHP Shawn Chacon (3-1, 4.56 ERA) Chacon has won three straight decisions, allowing two runs over 13 1/3 innings in his last two outings. Chacon was 0-1 with a 14.73 ERA in two outings (one start) against Boston last season. Player to watch Left fielder Manny Ramirez is hitting .353 in his last 15 games with 12 RBIs. 2. Thank you once again
  3. Just had to do this, because the thread Rivernator created last night made me sick!
  4. Very True
  5. This is so awsome, I was so excited when I saw this on Espn news, This isnstanly makes Wakefield better, even though he had a 3.90 ERA, Welcome Home Dougiee, this is also a great move because, he is a class act and a vaulable part to the sox club house. Now if we could trade Mueller for Lowell, Pedro for Clement and Lowe for Wells, it would be like 2004 all over agian, haha
  6. You know what eles is funny "disregard Mariano Rivera and the Yankees Bullpen ERA is probally better"
  7. Did you look at the numbers last year, they were almost identical
  8. It seems that are "friend" Clay retured for another Go, and it was swiftly taken care of, by I beilive Stocker in less than 10 minutes, I was just waiting to see if it escalted like it did last time
  9. I say 10-10 with a ERA of 0.00 is not being "f***ed with" personally
  10. Just because the yankees can score runs doesnt mean they are better than the sox, Once Coco Crisp comes back it has a huge ripple effect on the rest of the order, firstly you can put Youk down to Number 8 which with that OBP, that will help the order turn over. Manny will be better than 4-13, simply because he is crushing the ball lately, Even with 10 HRs Ortiz has not been hitting like he has. Tek will not hit .250 this season. Now lets go to pitching Schilling is better than Johnson BEckett is better than Mussina decpite one horrible start in Cleavland, its safe to say that will not happen offten, I mean in that start he was throwing 98 with a good curve, I give Wake the edge over Wang, only 1-4 but the team has only scored 7 runs in 5 starts I will give an edge to Chacon over Clement (i cant defend Clement right now) Wright is better than Dinardo, but if Clemens comes here our starting staff would be light years ahead of yours. Bullpen I know its one month but Papelbon has been better than anyone in Baseball including your beloved Rivera, who is 36 and may be on the decline Foulke is back which gives us so much Flexibility, he can pitch the 7th and 8th and get Lefties out like crazy, I do really like Farnsworth for the Yankees though This is were we have the Edge TIMLIN the Yankees dont have that, two reliable set up men which makes defeating the sox after the 6th inning nearly impossible So tell with all that said, how is a laughing matter that I and others feel the Sox are worse than the Yanks, espcially since we are tied for first.
  11. If Johnny had signed anywhere eles I would Cheer him like a hero, however he proved his whole hairdue/Jesus impression was all an act just to make dollars, Damon didnt give a s*** about the fans in Boston it was all about the money. If Johnny truly cared about Boston fans he would have passed up on the Money and stayed here, but he proved that baseball is a buisness, he would sell out a organzitation and Nation that was made him a cult hero just to earn a few extra bucks. (granted 12 million isnt pocket change)
  12. Sweet, Will do, thanks agian SFOC
  13. BOO, no question about it
  14. Wow, how could Madden stay with that guy for that long
  15. Trot 2 huge RBIS tonight
  16. Manny looking for number 21 with the base loader or just a basehit would do
  17. Foulke contiunes to look good, he surdered the lead because we have out fielders who cant throw, Gomes should have been out by 10 feet
  18. Its wired because Lowell is hitting 313., but it seems like he hasnt really contriuting to sox wins
  19. Lowell, Pena, GOnzo due
  20. Foulke is definatly back, that was a great changeup to end the inning, plus people are swinging and missing at his fastball
  21. Yes trot finally a clutch Rbi
