  1. I was just joking around, I know it wasn't funny, and about Pedroia I couldn't have been more wrong, obviously. Anything eles you want me to say? Edit- That comment about Pedroia and Cora was completly absurd, however I wasn't the only one in the world who didn't believe in Pedroia after watching him consistently for his first 2 months. I am glad we were wrong and you guys were right.
  2. wow, dead game thread.
  3. It makes sense, Manny isn't protecting Ortiz right now so it's worth a try.
  4. I am not disagreeing with you that he has not looked like himself at all this year. However, to me it's just hard to believe that he could drop off so much from last year. Maybe I am in denial, maybe its just hard to watch the best hitter ive ever seen regres so much, I just still think that Manny has a lot left, and will improve greatly in the second half. I guess there is always the possibility of a Bernie Williams type decline, which you would have to think has happened here if you think Manny's second half will duplicate his first half. I do like advanced stats myself, I am just too lazy to look them up. That's why I like reading posts by yourself, and ORS among others. However, I don't need advanced stats to tell me that Manny has sucked so far this season, or that J.D. Drew isn't the player we thought we were getting. I do watch most every game and can get a sense by just watching on how players are doing.
  5. Not positive but I think it was like 22 or 23. He had like 13 after, but thats because he didn't play the last six weeks of the season. He would have easily had 45 homeruns last year if he played the entire season. How can you argue that Manny has no chance of being the player he once was based on last years stats. He hit .321 with 35 homers and 101 RBIS while missing six weeks. That is pretty damn impressive numbers wise.
  6. He was last year as well. While I agree he has not looked like Manny what so ever this year, I still am not counting out the possibility that he will turn it on, and well become Manny again.
  7. So you are writing off probably one of the top 5 Right handed hitters in the last 50 years because of a lousy first half? I will have absolutly no suprise if he turns it on in the second half and becomes Manny again.
  8. So far this year, Manny has been a shell of himself. That being said will anyone be suprized if he hits 20-25 HRS in the second half of the season?
  9. I think our offense will be fine, and one of the best in the leauge. I am more concerened with our pitching staff right now. I think that while Tavarez has been very, very solid in his 5th starter role, I would much rather see a ratation that consists of Beckett, Matsuzaka, Schilling, Buerthle, Wakefield. I would also not mind to see a trade that brought Brad Lidge to Boston, at the right price. For Buerthle I would trade Lester, and maybe Murphy and Lugo? I don't know, however, I would not give up Ellsbury or Buchholz in a deal, both players just look to promising to part with at this point.
  10. I would agree unless the Sox could some how get this guy for decent bargain price, which is unlikely to happen. I think he could solidify this bullpen as the best pen in baseball.
  11. Wow, Coco is really starting to heat up.
  12. 1st and 2nd, very good start tonight. Let's hope Papi can freaking break out!
  13. If there's one team that would give that type of money to a pitcher, who IMO best years are behind them, it's the New York Yankees.
  14. Not to say that homeruns and RBI's are more important then OPS, but look how bad the Sox offense is when Ortiz doesn't drive the ball out of the park. Ortiz has not homered at Fenway Park since April 21st, and he has like 7 homers in the last two months. Morneau has 20 Jacks and 61 driven in. He has been carrying that offense all year long. As for Jeter vs. O-Cab, I say it is a wash offensively, but Orlando crushes Jeter on the defensive side of the ball. 4 errors vs. like 12-13.
  15. In case you haven't noticed the Texas Rangers offense hasn't been exactly powerful, all year or in this series. 8 runs in three games is not very many runs. The problem is that we have only scored 7. Pathetic.
  16. I am sorry, Tim Wakfield is better than Tavarez. Just look at the numbers and you will realize this. I like that team however, Teixeria is going to be on the D.L. for six more weeks so he may be untradable. Also would they accpet a deal that does not involve Ellsbury or Buchholz? Personally I think Texas can get a much better deal than what you suggested there. I like the deal for Buerhle, because I just think while Lester has the potential upside, Mark is going to give you 200+ quality innings every year. Of course that deal has to contingent on Buerhle signing an extension before the trade is complteted.
  17. Manny Ramirez should not be in this game, Morneau should be starting over Ortiz, and obviously O-Cab should be on the team. .342 avg 5 homers and 48 RBIS.
  18. I think the Yankees have been Cano'ed, Clemens'ed, Matsui'ed, Proctor'ed and Damon'ed.
  19. damn it! Our offense is lackluster to say the least.
