  1. On good morning america this morning it was described as a 'very treatable form' of lymphoma. I think no one knows but its treatable thats all thats for sure.
  2. I don't buy it. I don't see him being their guy at all. Why spend more money on a lesser defensive shortstop when you can spend some of that money on a real problem like pitching and save a little bringing A-gon back in. The FO has made careless moves, they're not that careless. Unless they plan on really throwing a lot of money around this offseason, I don't see him being their guy at all.
  3. The only place I have heard that the Sox are after Lugo is here. Lugo has had some run ins with the cops and some domestic violence problems and the fact that he isn't that great a defender makes me think he isn't in the sox plans at all. I will be very surprised if he signs in Boston. I think the sox want strong defense at shortstop and thats why I think A-Gon will likely be back. If the Angels want to unload Cabrera to make room for Wood, I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox were in on that. OuttheK's, Cordero is one of a couple guys I hope the sox bring in for the pen. That would be huge. I don't think Lester is in their 07 plans, if he does come back I don't think it will be as anything but a starter. I like Breslow a lot too. The sox have to be in on a big time starter this offseason and maybe Meche too. There is absolutely no excuse for bombing two years in a row. They can absolutely be a contender next season. With Lester out of the picture though, I think it will mean the FO might have to spend more.
  4. I think the pats are in good shape without him, better with him, no doubt, but the money he is asking for is unrealistic. He has no leverage in this situation is what im saying. He isn't gonna get what he wants. This is the NFL, just take the one year deal and take it to free agency next season. Thats what they all do, Branch is no different. If he sits out, he is screwed. If he plays, he'll eventually get paid. He is jumping the gun here.
  5. Your sister is very very lucky. Thats really amazing.
  6. My girlfriends mom had Non Hodgkins Lymphoma and she no longer has any sensation under her arms and around her shoulders as a result of the treatment. His career might be over. His career should be the farthest thing from anyones mind for a while until we know he is out of the woods. Lets just hope he pulls through. He's a kid.
  7. aniplastic large cell lymphoma. I know its cancer, but what exactly is it. I hope he pulls out of this. Christ, you never expect something like this to happen. I've got a friend who died of cancer this past year and when it happens to someone so young I think its harder for everyone to swallow. If you pray, you should pray for anyone with a disease like cancer.
  8. Branch has zero leverage. Zero. I don't get it. I hope if he sits out until the final six that Bill benches him for the entire time he is there to prevent him from cashing in. This is a stupid stupid move on his part.
  9. Cya, Boomer. The teams net alcohol consumption just went down about 65%. Enjoy San Diego... again.
  10. If it means being in on Zito or Matsuzaka this offseason, I would give up on Abreu too and if that means winning 85 games and finishing out of the playoffs that would actually be fine with me so long as we get Zito or Matsuzaka. They better be able to walk the walk this offseason after letting this season go.
  11. What? He's been up in the majors now for alittle more than a week
  12. This doesn't mean he has cancer. I was tested for cancer earlier in the year, its scary, but it could be so many things. Hopefully it is not cancer.
  13. Its depressing to talk about when all we do is lose, doesn't mean the site is dying.
  14. I might start subscribing to the deal coco idea. I like his energy, I like his bat even though its been quiet, but I can't stand his lack of range. I don't know. If you can get bullpen help for next year, good bullpen help, I can't say I wouldn't be temped. I would be dissappointed too if he kept ellsbury in the minors. Thats adding a little, i love ellsbury.
  15. What team are you talking about? And it looks like Beckett really threw a gem, maybe he is figuring out the AL. This season is in the shitter, might as well point out positives for next year.
  16. The Mets, Cards and Dodgers are probably knocking our door down. I can't see them passing on a proven veteran arm especially one that can hack it in the AL coming over to the NL.
  17. Hate to say I told ya so about Crisps defense, and yeah I took a liking to his hitting and his speed especially at his age, but he is not a CFer.
  18. 700, my memory is not faulty. You always say ridiculous things, get chewed out and conveniently forget they ever happened. Now, having a lot of packing to do in the next couple days, and a life to tend to, I'm not going to dig up threads from ST when you put down papelbon and June when lester got called up. Of course you said negative things about Papelbon during ST. Most people did. And you did say you hoped Lester would fail and got chewed out nicely by a couple of people. My memory is not faulty, my laziness makes me not want to proove it and to be honest, putting the effort into this isn't worth it. This whole site knows what a windbag you are, so it doesn't behoove me to dig up proof for what everyone already knows. Its just tiring. I don't even dislike you, I just can't stand reading what you have to say about baseball, but i dont know why whenever I see your posts I have to read them. I'm probably a masochist. And for the love of god stop using little internet put downs like POS, STFU and whatever others you have. For an adult you sure do behave like a little kid sometimes.
  19. Since when are you a baseball scout? Im tired of you pretending that you can evaluate talent and I'm tired of your constant negativity towards players. You even root against some of our players just because they aren't in their 40's. Don't say it hasn't happen and make me dig up threads, it has. Rivernator was easier to interact with than you.
  20. Matthews is 32, I don't think he is going to get the kind of pay day you expect. I wouldn't go after him. I would rather keep coco who is 26 and hit .330 on the road in 2005. He'll get back to that form.
  21. Yeah, its basically respect to a veteran. Respect sometimes seems to be more important to Tito than winning. But hey, this is a professional baseball team afterall, wins and losses aren't everything.
  22. You never see anyone under the age of 56 helping the team anyways. This team is a couple of FA acquisitions from being very very competitive. This season they lacked the pitching depth... I mean we essentially have four starters. Not very deep.
  23. not that papelbon is terrible, but i would really like to see raul ibanez in boston because he was on baseball tonights best catches of the first half. so i think hed be great. we should trade papelbon for him...
  24. I hate Jon Lester when he is at a 3-2 count.
  25. 700, don't take my snide personal jabs so... personally. They're jokes. But yeah, living among Yankees fans must be a pain. Our situation sucks, and this team doesn't have what it takes to compete with the top teams in the game right now. The Yankees aren't even the meanest team out there and they are undressing us. Its too bad, but I think when the Yankees took that leap to get Abreu and Lidle, it made them a different team and the Sox didn't want to spend the talent neccessary to keep up with them because it wasn't in line with their long term plans. It sucks now, but we'll enjoy this next year. It better be next year too, I like building for the future... but these guys are here now and while they might not be ready to carry the load alone, put the pieces around them and let them grow into big roles while winning. Watching Papelbon get hit last night hurt me deep. Thats not cool. This is like having someone break into your house take all your favorite things and then kick your dog.
