  1. I think Haren makes around 6 mil
  2. Watson is being a dick because of Francona's reaction to the Yankee game where the official came into the dugout DURING the game to see if Francona was wearing his jersey but still, it's pretty damn unprofessional
  3. I guess Olney thinks Santana isn't being serious when he says he won't waive his no-trade clause after the season starts
  4. nothing will get done before the GM meetings and then it's anyone's guess as to what happens. I don't think anything is imminent
  5. he served as a pretty good bridge until Pedroia was ready but I don't fear seeing him in pinstripes
  6. can't really argue with this. he has been a stabilizing force in the bullpen and has shown that he can continue to be
  7. Broke yesterday. Keep up with the class
  8. he cleaned up for NY. his hair wasn't nearly as long as Giambi's is
  9. I think the Sox are seeing if they can swing it without Ellsbury but if the Yankees up the ante to the point where the Sox have to include him, they still have him as their ace in the hole
  10. Unless the Yankees are completely unwilling to give up Hughes or Chamberlain, I don't see how the Twins turn down a Yankee offer and accept a Red Sox offer that doesn't include Buchholz or Ellsbury
  11. just imagine... Ellsbury Pedroia Ortiz Manny Lowell Drew Youkilis Tek Lugo Beckett Santana Matsuzaka Schilling Wakefield/Buchholz ejaculate....
  12. lol, if we get Santana without giving up Ellsbury or Buchholz, I will do a Papelbon jig in my underwear down my street
  13. If you can get Santana without having to give up Buchholz, you gotta do it. To me, that's all it comes down to
  14. Rotoworld
  15. No one drafts better than him but his free agent acquisitions haven't been great
  16. I can now sleep at night.
  17. Introducing him to the bigs the way they did Papelbon (August callup in '05) or bringing him up as a spot starter from time to time is probably the way to go with him next season
  18. I guess he wanted to stay in Chicago cause he could've gotten more than 1-year somewhere else although that isn't something I would've wanted the Sox to commit to
  19. its great that you put so much thought into something like this but the reality is, there are far too many variables from year to year to even try and predict what the Sox roster would look like even a year from now, let alone four. the value of prospects fluctuates from year to year as do team's needs and spending ability (five years ago, Toronto couldn't spend s***). The market constantly fluctuates putting a premium on certain positions every year and then after all that, you gotta look at how unforseen circumstances change the course of action to make the Sox better. If, god forbid, Jason Varitek suffers a major injury next year and is relegated to backup duty, if that, for the rest of his career, prospects all of a sudden become trade chips in trying to fill that gap.
  20. I'm surprised the Twins wouldn't demand more than that. At the very least, Cano over Cabrera
  21. His agent told ESPN that cause of death is unknown but a source told Fox News that a brain aneurysm is suspected. Horrible tragedy, especially considering he had a one-year old son
  22. I'd say the batting order and rotation are definitely set (unless they swing something for Santana). Just have to work on the bullpen and bench now
  23. Craig.
