  1. I love the featured comment on ESPN.com right now "Edinson Volquez + Dusty Baker = Edinson Volquez done in two years."
  2. so since its a rain delay, im watching the Yanks-Ms game and it got me thinking about something. if Ichiro and Dice-K are both Japanese, why does Ichiro have "Ichiro" on the back of his jersey but Dice-K has "Matsuzaka"?
  3. Detroit put on a hell of a clinic. Hard not to imagine an extremely entertaining Detroit vs. Pittsburgh final at this point
  4. some early runs would really be nice tonight
  5. I wonder how soon Hank brings up the Chamberlain to the rotation idea again
  6. In my mind, the think preventing Youk from being a top guy in all of baseball is that he'd never be the guy a pitcher really worries about when he looks over the batting order he's facing that night. He's the kind of guy who will always be a tough out and will be a key part of a potent offense because of his ability to draw high-pitch at-bats, to get on base and hit for average with decent power but to me, that'll just always be what he's gonna be, a complimentary part.
  7. Burnett has been s*** this year but he typically owns the Sox. Either way, let's get some f***in' runs before the stretch for a change
  8. wow, almost a carbon copy of last night's game
  9. its funny seeing ARod go on the DL with a strained quad cause Jeter had the same thing a couple weeks back. Didnt a Yankees trainer get fired a few seasons ago because of a rash of strained quads on the Yanks?
  10. no, but if the Sox can play some good ball for the next few weeks, it could give them some distance from the Yankees that'll prove valuable in September
  11. at some point, Lundqvist needs to come out of his crease and give the Pens' snipers a little less to shoot at. Look at the 4th Pitt goal that Gino scored, Lundqvist is about as far back in his net and you can get, you think Gino isn't good enough to pick a spot? Ridiculous
  12. last night was his 4th straight complete game and he's 1-3 in them
  13. awesome effort by both pitchers and some nice clutch hitting
  14. McCready confirmed the NY Daily News report Mindy McCready weeps as she confirms affair with Roger Clemens
  15. I do whatever I can to at least look at the box score each day. Articles and columns and whatnot are bonus when I can't follow the team as much as I'd like
  16. how soon before this gets added to the "worst contracts ever" debate?
  17. hope that pinch-hit game-tying triple was worth it
  18. I dont know, seemed to me he was just implying he would really start missing the game once training camps started to close interesting to see that he'll be on the Madden 09 cover though
  19. im only watching the box score but he seems to be doing ok. would be nice to cut down on the walks a bit though I guess
  20. im actually picking Colorado this series, I really dont like Detroit's goaltending. Osgood tailed off big time after the all-star break
  21. at this rate, he'll be lucky to be a non-roster invite to someone's spring training next year
  22. Lineups: Angels 1. Figgins, 3B 2. Matthews, LF 3. Guerrero, RF 4. Anderson, DH 5. Hunter, CF 6. Kotchman, 1B 7. Izturis, 2B 8. Mathis, C 9. Aybar, SS Garland -- P Red Sox 1. Ellsbury, CF 2. Pedroia, 2B 3. Ortiz, DH 4. Ramirez, LF 5. Drew, RF 6. Casey, 1B 7. Lugo, SS 8. Lowrie, 3B 9. Cash, C Matsuzaka -- P also, Craig Hansen has been called up from Pawtucket to take David Pauley's spot on the roster
