  1. I'm not trying to put myself in the heads of Joba's "associates". Maybe they thought people would sympathize with him if they heard he left cause he was being harassed by Sox fans, hell if I know. Maybe he busted a nut in his pants after a lap dance from Charlene and rushed home to change and the heckling Sox fans story was less embarassing, hell if I know
  2. The clientele at Nebraskan strip clubs don't exactly get invited to MENSA meetings
  3. The reporter found out that he stormed out cause he was being heckled by Sox fans, it makes for a interesting national story than just "Joba Popped for DUI". Call it inflaming a story but facts are facts and its part of the 5 Ws of reporting: who, what, when, where and why
  4. To me, everything about 2008 Derek Lowe screams contract year performance. Given the pitching market in recent years and Lowe's ability to stay healthy, $15 mil a year wouldn't shock me one bit and pitching in the AL East, I'd expect an ERA right around what Wakefield will give you btw, I'm all for keeping Wakefield as the long reliever
  5. lol @ the lack of specific details. now THATS journalism
  6. he isnt coming here
  7. The paper is just giving the reason Joba didn't wait to sober up before taking off. That's the newspaper's job, to provide the facts and let people make their own judgements.
  8. Mike Lowell is a very good hitter who is pretty much built for Fenway. The hip didn't apparently bother him swinging much, just on defense so I think we should be a bit more optimistic than expecting a .270-.280 batting average out of him
  9. I dont know if anyone read Red Sox Rule by Michael Holley but the crap that Tito went through with his leg issues is something else
  10. associates mean the people Joba went out with that night there's no way anyone associated with the Yankees would even try to make excuses for Joba's DUI, talk about a PR nightmare
  11. The Bucs are on the road the next 2 weeks, they should be fine
  12. People said he was done after 2005 too. I don't think he'll ever reproduce his .324/21 HR/120 RBI from 2007 but a .305/20 HR/90 RBI season from him wouldn't shock me one bit next year
  13. except Byrd is a free agent and id think Texas would have to give up more than Salty to get Peavy
  14. to be fair, nowhere does it say the Yankees and Joba are blaming RSN. The article quotes eye-witnesses at the club
  15. or have successful surgery but dont have the discipline or desire to rehab
  16. I gotta think if there any chance that R&R wouldn't do what surgery will, then the team would highly insist that Ortiz go under the knife
  17. good point. Cant really think of any besides that though
  18. im curious, whens the last time there was an UNsuccessful sports-related surgery?
  19. ah, a clue to part two of Joba's night on the town
  20. be honest though, how many backup catchers give you a better offensive output than Kevin Cash would anyway?
  21. The reports came out what the Twins preferred the package that had Lester as the centerpiece. I remember cause thats when half the board yelled out "DO IT! DO IT! DO IT!" simultaneously
  22. you're ignoring the fact that Minnesota wanted Lester over Buchholz by hypothetically saying Santana and Lester could've been in the same rotation
  23. the direction this thread has taken: http://blogs.mysanantonio.com/weblogs/atlarge/epic_fail.jpg
  24. is this an injury that can heal with rest though? or is surgery absolutely needed?
