  1. I just don't see what harm a 15 minute bullpen session will do
  2. You mean you didn't hear about the guy who hijacked a mango truck?
  3. The Yankees can having f***ing Billy Crystal play in a ST game, why can't the Sox give 15 minutes to Oil Can?
  4. Braves are making a late push to sign Griffey http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3907492
  5. I can't say I've ever had a bad flu so I don't know really how it affects you but if its bad enough to make you lose a lot of weight, I don't see where a guy can find enough time to rest to properly recuperate considering how long and grinding the season is, especially considering how taxing physically the position of catcher is
  6. I suppose, and he mentions the business part of it but the only thing that really matters is the attitude he's taking into the season and it seems to be the right one The other way Lowell can look at it is that while the Sox did actively persue Teixeira, they didn't pull out all the stops to get him as if it were a due or die situation so that should tell him that the Sox aren't completely dissatisfied in still having him
  7. I honestly thought Lowell would have had a better understanding of the situation he is in. He's gonna be 35 in 10 days coming off a fairly serious injury. He should sympathize with the FO being skeptical about his ability going forward. But he seems like the kind of guy who won't let himself be bitter over it but rather will go all out to prove his worth.

  9. It's a message board, it's about discussing opinions. You want to discuss facts? You're a jackass. Let's discuss that.
  10. Bailey can play LF and I'm sure can do a better job in right than Hinske ever did and at this point, Wilkerson is only a corner outfielder himself. He's played like 7 games at CF since 2005 and Fenway's CF isn't for everyone
  11. You'd enjoy it, best atmosphere in the NHL
  12. It's a good thing for the NHL when every Original Six team is relevant, except Toronto and Montreal cause even if they suck they're always relevant
  13. If I remember his starts correctly though, Masterson often got into trouble during his second and third times through the lineup and the fact that he only has two very good pitches, at least at this point in his career, suggests he's better suited for the bullpen, plus the fact that he dominates righties makes him a nightmare to matchup against.
  14. I don't see how anyone in the organization can think Wilkerson is a better alternative at first base than Bailey or Carter Wilkerson is an emergency reserve for the outfield if/when Drew, Baldelli or Kotsay and down
  15. Maybe it all hinges on how Penny's shoulder holds up during ST, whether they think he can handle the workload of starting every 5th day
  16. This move is just to make sure the option of having him as a starter or reliever is still available to the club. If he starts his progressions as a reliever, it would be a lot more difficult to put him in as a starter when camp breaks. I still think the best way to go for Masterson is to have him as a reliever. His stuff is better suited for relief pitching as well. Plus he'd be the only guy in the bullpen capable of long relief duties.
  17. Seriously, do you have any intelligent rebuttal to anything anyone is saying or are you going to keep dishing out your stupid, sarcastic, condescending one-liners?
  18. I don't get it, these are people who carry a considerable amount of credibility who have named McGwire and Sosa. In McGwire's case, his former teammate and his own brother. In Sosa's case, a Federal Agent. NO ONE, let alone anyone who would carry credibility, has named Ortiz.
  19. For McGwire and Sosa, there's no tangible proof but where there's smoke, there's fire There isn't even any smoke around Ortiz
  20. That's the underrated aspect of the Smoltz signing, what a great influence he'll be for not only Clay, but every young Sox pitcher
  21. Williams wasn't very endearing to the writers and it cost him
