  1. Both Ken Rosenthal and Buster Olney are reporting on Twitter that the Twins have locked up Joe Mauer for 8 years and $184 million.
  2. That argument could hold weight if he didn't produce anywhere else but fact is, he was productive batting anywhere from 4th to 8th.
  3. And I'd be thrilled with that out of the 9-hole. I couldn't care less what he's making cause it isn't my money. It's also a lot better than what Nick Green gave us.

  5. What is there to expect from Scutaro anyway? He's going to be the #9 hitter. 7-8 HRs, .340-.350 OBP and .700-.720 OPS is what I'm expecting.
  6. Alright fine, you wanna use the post-season as your "he isn't a middle of the order run producer" argument? Drew accounted for 29% of the entire team's RBIs in the post-season last year.
  7. Consider it marked.
  8. BOOOOOM SHAKALAKA
  9. Always fun when people back up opinions with a "hunch".
  10. Fine, but how many true aces are there in all of baseball? Halladay, Lincecum, Sabathia, Santana. Besides that, there aren't many (if any) guys anyone would pick over Lester. Would you trade today's rotation for any of 1997-2003s rotations when we had a true ace followed by dung? I personally wouldn't.

  12. I think it entirely depends on the depth we have in the farm at any particular position. If Doubront does continue to emerge, it makes a Casey Kelly more expendable. But any trading partner could have more of a "you want our best player so we want your best prospects" type of attitude.
  13. 4 more scoreless IP for Lackey today.
  14. Just as a sobering reminder that not all memorable moments are good ones, Aaron Boone has to be up there for everyone.
  15. Probably Damon's grand slam in the '04 ALCS. It was the "holy s***, they're actually gonna do this..." moment.
  16. White House Spokesman Rob Gibbs today.... http://www.cbc.ca/gfx/images/sports/photos/2010/03/12/gibbs-ap-front-100312.jpg *giggle*
  17. Well let's be honest here, for Nick Green to have been better than we reasonably expected him to, all he had to do was not s*** his uniform during the game. The bar was set incredibly low for him and while he had his moments, for the most part it was a joke having him at SS. When Ortiz/Bay were slumping, that was a black hole in the 9-hole that we just couldn't afford. So when you say Scutaro will earn his money being consistent, to me that should be considered a lot more than just an afterthought.
  18. Fine, but do we really need anything more than "steady average play" from a guy who's playing between two excellent defenders and who's slotted to be the #9 hitter? At the very least, he'll be better than Nick Green's .303 OBP and .669 OPS while being a solid defender and air-mailing far fewer balls into the 10th row behind the dugout.
  19. Does UZR factor in the fact that Scutaro played on a presumably faster SkyDome artificial turf? I also think UZR plays less of a factor here considering Beltre has a much better range than Lowell.
  20. The run prevention factor has to be considered too though. Too many people look simply at runs scored when run differential is where people should really be looking.
  21. I was just about to post that quote, Dipre. I thought it was a very interesting person to ask the question to.
  22. He has a clue. He's just being an instigating prick.
