  1. Yea, cause Boras' salary expectations always realize themselves...
  2. Is there anything to be decided besides the utility infielder? Seems the roster is shaping up to be: SP Josh Beckett SP Jon Lester SP Daisuke Matsuzaka SP Brad Penny SP Tim Wakefield RP Ramon Ramirez RP Manny Delcarmen RP Javier Lopez RP Justin Masterson RP Takashi Saito RP Hideki Okajima RP Jonathan Papelbon CF Jacoby Ellsbury 2B Dustin Pedroia DH David Ortiz 1B Kevin Youkilis LF Jason Bay RF JD Drew 3B Mike Lowell C Jason Varitek SS Jed Lowrie BN George Kottaras BN Rocco Baldelli BN Chris Carter BN Nick Green?
  3. If you want a good book chronicling the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry, I read Emperors & Idiots by Mike Vaccaro and Scott Brick which was good. If you want a good history of how the current era of Sox ownership and management came to be, Feeding the Monster by Seth Mnookin is good
  4. I'm starting to re-think the Angels a little bit. Santana is out at least all of April so their rotation is starting to look a little thin, the bullpen still has some good arms but Fuentes isn't K-Rod on the back end. I think Arredondo will be closing before long and their lineup just isn't that intimidating, Vlady is on the decline. But they probably have the best manager in baseball and they run the bases as well as any team so who knows
  5. his fastball has been clocked at 186 MPH and his slider goes from dugout to dugout yet still manages to cross the plate
  6. For the sake of all us, stop using the term top prospect cause you really are the only one doing so.
  7. Only 5 teams with sub-.500 records when there were 13 of them last year?
  8. Does Darvish have any of those 684-pitch outings like Dice-K has on his resume?
  9. Irony.
  10. In terms of Gibson, I think it deserves to be mentioned that he played an average of 31 games a year in the Negro Leagues, a far cry from the grueling schedule major league catchers had to endure
  11. Way too much discussion for a guy (Johnson) who will most likely end up being a Kason Gabbard-ish throw-in on a deadline deal
  12. a lot nicer than the box the tickets arrived in last year http://www.treehugger.com/toilet-llqq-001.jpg
  13. Still a hell of a lot more encouraging than the 10.03 ERA he walked out of ST with last year
  14. if Buchholz has the year I think he's gonna have, our rotation for 2010 should be Beckett-Lester-DiceK-Buchholz-Bowden
  15. Hard to say anyone else really stacks up to Bench
  16. Rays sent David Price to Triple A today
  17. Very hard not to be optimistic about Buchholz going into this season. 1 ER in almost 20 IP
  18. They almost traded him for Mike Cameron a few months ago, old news
  19. The rest of the world gets a kick out of it and its good baseball so keep it going
  20. Yea, it was worth taking a flyer on Wilkerson but he hasn't been worth a s*** since 2004.
  21. No, but it probably speaks to his balls to stay up on the plate time after time
  22. The Red Sox are tolerating Varitek simply because there is no better option. The Yankees are tolerating Jeter cause he's Jeter.
  23. But apparently the playoffs are a crapshoot so it's by luck that Schilling was so good in the post-season...
