  1. ok there...
  2. If a team scores an average of 6 runs a game, that team will score 972 runs over the course of an entire season. It's far too unreasonable to expect that out of any team. This team has a good offense and it is good enough that it will bail out an off-night of pitching from time to time.
  3. Really? All this talk alllllll winter long about how Don Zimmer could hit better than Tek and all it took was a three-game series to sway opinions?
  4. Lowell! tying run in scoring position
  5. http://www.blogcdn.com/www.tmz.com/media/2009/04/0409_gallo.jpg That's the guy and he was actually driving with a suspended license
  6. You have a great John Houseman name. Alec Beeeeeeerg. Mr Beeeeeerg.
  7. If he can stay healthy, he is gonna be a massive steal for me in just about all my fantasy leagues
  8. No kidding, he made the Crawford catch sound like a gapper and the Joyce catch sound like a sure homer
  9. didnt DiceK only allow something like a dozen dingers all of last season?
  10. tonight's A's/Angels game is postponed
  11. I'm just in favor of any alterations to the game that further enable a player and team's skill level to win out as often as possible and inconsistent strike zones severely hinder a player's talent at seeing the ball
  12. im at work so I cant watch the game but was there any acknowledgment of Nick Adenhart's death?
  13. after two games....geez
  14. Absolutely tragic story. If there's a silver lining, it's that he made it to the big leagues before he died.
  15. Aybar killed us during the ALCS, I wouldnt consider him an easy out
  16. The #1 priority of any proper sports league should be to get the calls right first and foremost. That shouldn't go at the expense of maintaining things "they way they've always been". Umpires never used to discuss calls amongst each other and if they still didn't, the Sox never would've won the 2004 ALCS
  17. Would you say the game of tennis has benefitted from the hawk eye system or has it lessened the game because it isn't quite the way our grandfathers used to watch it?

  19. Early start today (1:35pm) so I figured I'd get a game thread up quickly Dice-K vs. Matt Garza
  20. yea, Tex had an RBI double yesterday
  21. Yea, this lineup is designed to not have an easy out in it, guys who will work the count and get pitch counts up early as opposed to relying on the 3-4 hitters to produce the majority of the offense.
  22. No question. Unfortunately, it's pretty much the last stand for all baseball purists who feel taking the element of human error or interpretation out will ruin the game as opposed to taking advantage of technology to keep as much of a level playing field as possible. A hitter's approach to an at-bat, whether to be aggressive or work the count as much as possible, shouldn't depend on the guy standing behind the catcher.
  23. For what its worth, I was watching a Canadian feed and all night, the guy was talking about how much of a problem it has been in baseball that umpires are inconsistent with their strike zones
