That doesnt mean he would do well, just that hes better than their already s***** pitching staff. Being better than a currect SD Padre pitcher really isnt saying much. That doesnt mean he has a lot of trade value, just that he occupies that s***** rotation slot better than the other s***** guy.

Im not sure. I think we regard Masterson a lot higher than other teams/fanbases. They would want Buchholz and Bowden as the starting point, with maybe another SP thrown in there, maybe a B level guy along with some other positional throw ins. They dont want middle relievers. Nobody trades for prospect middle relievers unless they come with the clout of a Bard. You think SD gives a s*** who Masterson is? We cant even figure out what his real value is, you think they will covet someone who still doesnt have a defined role? I dont think his trade value is all that high.

They want a shitload of prospects, a minimum of 4 or 5......so my prediction of a minimum of six players (not just prospects) really wasnt that far off. That being said, Gonzalez is not going anywhere, and it isnt a surprise. He has an extremely club friendly contract. He is young. He is a superstar. See you on the FA market in 2011.

UGH, I swear to god some of the same people who talk on internet baseball forums are the same people who get blown up during the big show on eei. Why would they trade Bay? WTF!!! Teams who trade players at the deadline are in 2 categories, winners looking to get better and pick up veterans and losers trying to dump contracts and pick up prospects. The Redsox are in the winning category, why trade away one of the biggest pieces of their offense. Yeah, hes sucked lately and no, he is not worth the money he will demand in the offseason, but we are BUYING at the dealine, not selling. If we were Toronto, yeah.....wed be trading Bay. Ugh, my head hurts.

GOM, thats the point I was trying to make (ugh, makes me cringe to agree with a rival). I want Gonzalez, he numbers make me giggle, every sox fan wants Gonzalez...but they will want a whole helluva lot.

Look, I want him just as much as everyone else. Hes not going anywhere unless they blow his doors off. The offer I said no way to was a SP, an OF, a 1B and a single A catcher. If they need pitching why would they take Buchholz only?

If Im Towers, I say....he is my ONLY moneymaker, he is the ONLY reason people come to the park....and I am in no rush to deal with my best player making only 4M dollars. Dipre, those are YOUR rankings, not his...those are Soxprospects rankings, not his. I AM NOT SAYING THEY ARE GOING TO GET THAT, I am saying that there will be no deal, because they will want a lot more than we will part with.

Why do the Padres have to make the deal? Someone just please answer that question........This defies logic, this is ridiculous, WHY DO THEY HAVE TO MAKE THE DEAL?????????? You just want him, so we as fans think our little s***** internet offers are good enough. Lars Anderson....projects to be a Morneau type???????? Yeah on SOXPROSPECTS, a website created by REDSOX fans (btw, Morneau outperformed Anderson SIGNIFICANTLY at the same age)

No. There is no gun to his head, he has 2.5 years to listen to offers. He laughs and declines. This is really ridiculous, why does he have to make a deal? He doesnt, your being unrealistic. THEY ARE IN NO RUSH TO MAKE A DEAL TIL 2011!!!!! Again, why do they have to make a deal? They dont. We are the ones who are desperate and he knows it, they will want to world, anything less wont get it done. We are the ones who need the bat, at the end of the day, we are desperate and they dont have to make a decision on him for another 2.5 years.......if we dont blow him away with a big package, no way it happens. 3-4 prospects, 1 of which in single-A doesnt get it done.

Exactly, which is why he wont be traded.....why take anything less for a superstar, 27 years old making 4M through 2011. Crazy is taking anything less.

Ill say it again. Adrian Gonzalez is making cheap, cheap, cheap money through 2010. Then the club has an option on him in 2011. He is the face of their franchise, hes comfortable there, why would they trade him? I dont think we as RedSox fans look at these deals from the other teams perspective. If I am the Blue Jays, I want at least 5 stud prospects/proven young players. If you dont meet my demands, f*** off. If I am the Padres, I want even more for Gonzalez since he is younger, cheaper and signed through more seasons. If I am the Padres, I want 6-7-8 players for a younger superstar slugger making 3-4M dollars. Why would they settle for less? They are in no hurry to deal him, since he is signed through 2011. We need Gonzalez more than they need our prospects. They (Padres) are in no hurry to rebuild since they are rebuilding every year, and they have the perfect starting point in a younger superstar slugger making pennies.

We still need somebody at SS, come on guys....were hoping that Green continues to overachieve (which he really is no longer doing) and Lowrie (who is still an unproven) to anchor one of the most important positions on the diamond. We need to get better here. We also need to get better at leadoff. Ellsbury is just not producing what we expect out of the leadoff position. I would not be surprised if he were maybe part of a deal to bring in somebody else. Dont be surprised if they acquire someone like Marco Scutaro who fits both of those voids. Scutaro plays SS and hits leadoff....perfect fit.
