  1. Randy needs to serve another one of those flat sliders to WMP.....that will do.
  2. That was a laser. Dude's still my favorite AB every time through the order.
  3. Nice hook to Damon. 1-2-3, that's a nice change.
  4. That's a rarely seen play. I expect full indignation from all Yankee fans that get on Manny's case for not running the ball out because if Posada takes off down the line out of the box, that ball doesn't hit him. I won't hold my breath though.
  5. Go get a box of tissues if the way they spend money doesn't agree with your philosophy. By the way, the only team I've ever seen that operates with your philosophy is playing at Fenway today, only they aren't wearing white uniforms. Like it or not, the ownership group has consistently said they want to stay below the luxury tax limit. That is the reality of the situation. With that in mind, I would like them to make whatever moves are necessary to maximize the field talent within their idea of a budget. Would I like them to spend a little more for premium talent? Sure, but that ain't happening so I don't see the point of getting into a tizzy about it.
  6. Either swing or don't swing, Mikey. That half-assed s*** rarely works.
  7. Which would have meant sacraficing some of the available salary for pitchers in the offseason. If you want them to pick up pitchers, then it doesn't make sense to complain about something that would have hindered that ability.
  8. I agree with that. The unfortunate part is that injuries rushed him coming up. Ideally he would never have left the Buckett this year. But, now that he's up and pitched in 10+ games, there's no need to send him down unless someone better can replace him, which doesn't seem to be the case.
  9. That makes no sense. If they are deep out of contention, then the outcome of the games doesn't really matter, and his progression into an effective MLB pitcher, if it happens, will come all that much faster if he's learning at the highest level. The only way it makes sense to send him down to AAA is if they are still contending and have someone capable of replacing him.
  10. http://photos.hotfreelayouts.com/photos/494/rick_james_bitch.jpg Don't suck, Nuke. Do that, we win. We win today, we win tomorrow. We win tomorrow, we have a shot. You are the "future" of this team. Grab the reigns.
  11. Farnsworth took apart a couple of NL pitchers. Big deal. WMP would consume Kyle and s*** him out in the Yankee dugout. That's utter ********. Talking the way you do about Sox players and about the things the Yankees did to the Sox on a Sox message board is inciteful, and you know it. Saying crap to get people mad is starting fights, a bunch of them.
  12. Nope. I'm sure everyone would want him here. I'm not sure everyone would like to have him pitching with 70+ games of Willie Harris, Dustan Mohr, and Gabe Kapler patrolling the OF.
  13. He hit a dinger last night for the PawSox.
  14. The story about your day would have been interesting if it were a little more "Holden Caulfield" and little less "Steve Erkel".
  15. In the interest of said "fairness": Willie Harris, or someone of his ilk, is the CF for 40 or so games. Dustan Mohr is the RF for Trot's annual 30+ days on the DL. Think Bronson gets those 10 wins without run support in the AL East?
  16. Cabrera? Seriously? I think you just ruined any chance you may have had for serious discussion.
  17. Starters are much more valuable than relievers. Even if you adjust for leverage, the quality of relievers' innings pitched isn't on par with starters' (equivalent level of performance). The Sox made it to the postseason in '03, '04, and '05 without a dominant closer (Foulke was very good in '04 but not dominant). If the season ended today, they don't make the playoffs with the best closer in the game. The difference between the Sox and Yanks has been Mariano Rivera. But, both teams have had good starting rotations. The O's had a strong lineup, a dominant reliever, and a crap rotation last year and they finished 14 games under .500. Seems pretty obvious to me.
  18. Please explain, because that really doesn't make any sense.
  19. Only in the mid-Atlantic states. Nationally, I think Ohio St. vs. Michigan and ND vs. USC in football are bigger than UNC vs. Duke. I've lived in the NE, in the South, out West, and in Hawaii. ACC Basketball just isn't that important outside the mid-Atlantic region. Those FB rivalries garner interest in all the places I've been. As do the Sox/Yanks.
  20. Yeah, it's Cabrera. EDIT: Personally, I don't think he hits the market. I don't think there's any chance the Marlins extend him -- he doesn't want to, and neither do they. They could land a bumper crop of prospects with him, and that is what I think will happen since so many teams will be interested.
  21. NL.
  22. SPECULATION: Around the time Manny's contract (and possible extension) are done and Ortiz is nearing the end of his contract, the best player to hit the market since ARod will be available in the FA market (if he isn't available via trade before then). He is not happy with his current team, so the likelihood of an extension is very remote. This administration has proven they have their eyes on a future prize, so perhaps he is in their sights. With less big contracts on the team they will be able to compete with, and possibly exceed the offer of, the Yankees for this particular player. And, in three more years, the fruit of their building the farm will be more plentiful, so moving the pieces necessary to get him won't be a big hit to the system. Any idea who I'm talking about?
  23. If I can sit here and notice the 1st pitch FB for a strike is always followed by a slider at the ankles while paying about 25% attention to the game, why can't Sox hitters?
