  1. Yeah, but that particular superstar is making assloads of money until the year 2011, and he's 33 this year. I want this FO to spend coin on good players, but I don't mind a little restraint in regards to making sure they are getting good production for the length of the contract. I don't doubt Helton would live up the the salary this year or next, but the next three would give any reasonable person something to consider. I tend to think the rumors about them picking up substantial portions of his contract may be just that. This was a money issue, and if they were kicking in a good amount, then the deal would have gotten done, or at a minimum there'd be other suitors.
  2. An actual closing situation. Against AAA guys. Let's see what happens.
  3. Stocker is looking for an elite pitcher and a very good hitter. You are a little light on offense, so with you providing the elite pitcher, whoever is going for Pujols would have to give up a superstar OF to you, a middle rotation pitcher to you, and a very good hitter to Stocker. I just don't see it happening. Pujols is great, but he's not two superstar hitters and a decent pitcher great. Real baseball, maybe, but not in fantasy baseball. Someone would be much better served dealing with Stocker directly.
  4. I think Romero and Okajima will come north. Breslow and Lopez will probably start off the year in Pawtuckett.
  5. Anyone think the Sox should work with WMP to shorten his swing? The guy is freakishly big, so he doesn't need a real long swing to generate power.
  6. What 2B has a strong arm? A 2B is a middle infielder that doesn't have enough arm to play SS. That play was between the ears.
  7. Not heads up ball by Pedroia there. He should have made sure the runner didn't score, and if he hadn't hestitated toward first, he probably would have had him. However, he can learn. Loretta doesn't get in the same zip code as that ball.
  8. Wow, where did this come from. He was on cruise control with 7 K's and 1 H through 4 2/3. A couple of dinks, a hopper over the bag, and he's laboring. That last curve looked really flat.
  9. He's in his early 20's. There's plenty of time. Hell he's got to age 10 years before he hits your radar 700. That said, I think he needs to spend the whole year in AAA unless he shows dramatic improvement in command and someone gets hurt.
  10. They don't count pitches during ST. 3 strikes for a K, 4 balls for a walk, balls in play show up as the first pitch.
  11. With the good mix of pitches, he has hitters guessing and looking foolish.
  12. I think Kotchman is winning the 1B job in ST. He's raking. If he can turn the corner and start translating his talent to the ML level, that will certainly help.
  13. I would guess a hard change. He's said he wants to use it more, and with his velocity it's probably going to look like a split.
  14. 700, what do you think of Beckett's hook tonight?
  15. 1-2-3 on a soft grounder to 2nd. Beckett looks great tonight.
  16. Beckett is throwing an absolutely beautiful curve tonight. And then he K's White with cheese.
  17. Does that make their offense from last year not good? That seems to be your point, and if it isn't I don't know why you bothered chiming in. Not historically good does not mean not good.
  18. Another clean inning with 2 K's. MIKEY!!
  19. What point are you trying to make? I said they had a very good offense. It was very good. Find where I called it historically good, and I'll concede you have something to talk about. Try and keep up, Jacko.
  20. Number 2 in runs scored to the White Sox on August 1st, which was right around the time the injury bug hit. Regardless of how they compared to previous years, it was still one of the top offenses prior to the injuries.
