  1. So, the other things will return to norms, but they'll still keep the 300 HR pace? Everything always comes up roses, doesn't it?
  2. Really, you are blaming Bard? Not the pitcher who put gave up 3 in the 1st primarily because of a shitload of walks?
  3. I sincerely appreciate those funbags.
  4. The other thread has included a lot of image sharing. So, I thought, what about a thread dedicated to your favorite lasting images captured during the game. This is one of my all time favorites. The moment was great, but the picture is, IMO, legendary. The closeness of the fans to the field, the unity of expression, perfect. Simon says! Hold your hands up. http://www.soxspacenews.com/img/blog/1222754904.jpg
  5. Post what you take away in any category after each game. If you would, please also post the date, opponent, and final score of the game, like so.... 5/5, Anaheim, 11-0 (L) The Good: Slim pickings for a silver lining here. Rich Hill looked good. And, if the offense is going to struggle, at least they did it during a game where the starting pitcher got nuked, so they didn't waste a good pitching performance. The Bad: 4th time they've been shutout in 31 games. With the smoke and mirrors squad they had last year because of all the injuries, they got shutout 4 times all season, and we are treading into the part of the season where if it continues, it's not just a bad start. To be honest, I'm very surprised Magadan still has a job, and I will be completely shocked/appalled if he still has one by the end of May with a serious rebound from the offense. The Ugly: Who else, Lackey.
  6. Yup. One in the ear for a Halo is certainly justified.
  7. You think this game is winnable? You are joking, right? He's out there to save some workload on the BP, who had to throw 8 IP last night and doesn't have another off day until next Thursday. Of course, f***stick can't even do that.
  8. Running up 6-0 when Francona is clearly waving the white flage by leaving Lackey out there should earn Wells one in the ear next time up.
  9. Leaving Lackey out there would accomplish both - saving the BP and forfeiting - wouldn't it?
  10. And the wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round, 'round and 'round, 'round and 'round....
  11. He makes the Jeter contract look like a stroke of genius.
  12. Lackey's solution to his suckery is to walk the leadoff hitter. Nice. Got him, but that was a close play on Mark Trumbo. Mark. Trumbo.
  13. Lackey doing his Maalox Moment thing.
  14. Gonzo just missed a big cookie there.
  15. Anyone care? He's a AAAA player, and it's clear last year's glass slipper has fallen off the foot.
  16. Wheeler/Jenks to the DL. Hill/Atchison up. Wheeler made a name for himself in Tampa. Look at his BABIP there. I lamented about this with extreme frustration in the game threads when he came in and was successful against the Sox the last couple of years. The writing was on the wall with him. Management, supposedly very sabermetric, ignored it and is paying for it. EDIT: All that said, when he gets back from the DL, regression to some sort of mean suggests they'll get some quality innings out of him from this point forward. I mean, while I didn't expect a repeat of his Tampa performance, he's not this bad. He could be an asset in the BP down the stretch.
  17. They have a Bill Hall type - can play every position on the field, RH bat, decent power - in Yamaico Navarro down in Pawtucket. He's on fire to start the year (.329/.436/.612 with 4 HR). Another few weeks, where he continues to play well while the bench struggles, and I'd expect to see him up filling in for the big club.
