1. That's like a reverse lock on the jinx. When you want it to break up and you mention it, it's more likely to happen. Seriously. Look it up.
2. The season began on Aug 21? Oh that's right, that's when somebody had something big to gloat about. It's really no big deal, Gom. Everyone can see it. You aren't interested in this place unless you have a bit of s*** to talk. Just admit it and we can move on.
3. It think they go until like 8:30 tonight.
4. From BA: But he won't slip that far.
5. Perfect game is nobody on base. Lugo ruined it. And that is what I was alluding to in my post about him not surviving the home crowd if he doesn't start hitting. He just took a potentially historic moment away from the hero of the '04 postseason. If Curt goes on to finish what's possible, Lugo better start hitting, or the heat will get pretty strong.
6. It's OK, we drafted a project with our first pick last year.
7. Lugo won't make it to the break in Boston if he keeps sucking and that play becomes as significant as it could.
8. Why do people feel the need to absolutely make s*** up just because of the rivalry? Does Mitchell have the authority to suspend Giambi? No, he's just collecting information, and Giambi's name happens to be one of the ones at the root of the problem. Is there some weird Yankee fan gene that makes you cast yourselves as the plucky underdog with the whole world against them?
9. And then there were two.
10. That or type - :ortiz:
11. http://allstarz.hollywood.com/~malkovich/gallery2/ted.jpg So, dee Meel-Wah-Kay Brewers hev seelekted LaPorta. All your dreems of steeking it to dee Rehdsoks are go-ink down dee drain. You must feel soooo bad.
12. Results of the '07 draft....... 55. Nick Hagadone, LHP, 6-5 230, University of Washington BA 62. Ryan Dent, R/R SS, 6-0 190, Woodrow Wilson HS BA 84. Jeffrey Morris, L/R 3B, 6-2 200, Virgil I Grissom HS BA I'll post more when I can find some SR on the 114 and 144. Not picking Harvey still has me curious. (to be editted as picks are made)
13. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think anyone knows who rep points came from. From what I can tell when I've looked at it, it doesn't tell you who gave you what rep in the User CP. So, my advice to you, adam, is give good or bad rep as the post warrants, not to build bridges because nobody knows it came from you.
14. The Sox were offering LaPorta well over slot, just like they did with Lars. LaPorta wanted first round money. Everyone knew it, which is why he slipped to the 14th round. I was all for signing the kid because I've seen him play on TV here quite a bit, and he swings a mean stick. That said, the options they went with aren't exactly disappointing.
15. It's a deep draft, so the tough signs might slip farther that usual. The Sox and Yanks will make their hay after the 6th round, IMO.
16. He wanted to get paid for projectability. Sox wanted to pay for performance. He had a relatively crummy Jr year, so there was some concern, and there was no need to go as high as he was asking with one college and one HS 1B with projectable power already signed. He had a great year, so it paid off for him. That happens a lot.
17. Lars Anderson and Aaron Bates.
18. That's right, I didn't follow the thread title format. You know why? Because the s*** ends tonight. A Sox loss combined with a Yankee win is like a rain storm because the worms come out. You can see it with the return of Gom and others of his ilk. So, it's time to stop the rain. Long as I remember the rain been comin down. Clouds of mystry pourin confusion on the ground. Good men through the ages, tryin to find the sun; And I wonder, still I wonder, wholl stop the rain? I went down virginia, seekin shelter from the storm. Caught up in the fable, I watched the tower grow. Five year plans and new deals, wrapped in golden chains. And I wonder, still I wonder wholl stop the rain? Heard the singers playin, how we cheered for more. The crowd had rushed together, tryin to keep warm. Still the rain kept pourin, fallin on my ears. And I wonder, still I wonder wholl stop the rain? Curt will stop the rain, that's who. Today, we go to the old war horse. Old blood and guts (and bloody socks). This is a big game, and while Beckett may be the ace of the staff, Curt is still the big game pitcher. Today he shows it again. http://www.francisward.com/images/warhorse.gif vs. http://www.doubledogmusic.com/images/2005/piggy_blanton_small.jpg
