1. Just because it's a rivalry doesn't mean you need to make retarded arguments.
2. Cinco, cinco, cinco.
3. In other news, Bowden and Lester pitched well tonight.
4. Good game for Mighty Mouse too.
5. Hell of a game for Drew.
6. And he picks up the spare.
7. Do I have mlb.tv on the right channel? I mean, it looks like Fenway, but the home team has scored 6 runs. Can that be right?
8. To add on....
Timeframe|R|H|2B|HR '03-'05|1.10|1.06|1.32|0.94 2006|1.03|1.04|1.37|0.73
The '03-'05 numbers are from Dan S. at Baseball Think Factory. They are weighted 8, 5, 3 so the '05 results have more impact and so on. The '06 numbers are from ESPN. Ever since they redesigned the upper deck, Fenway has been less the hitter's park it used to be, and the reason is the suppression of HRs. I remember reading somewhere that there are prevailing winds that are now blocked by the added structure. For some reason, I can't hot-link right now. If you google "baseball park factor", the BTF and ESPN links are on the first page.
9. Pedroia had a longer and more pronounced adjustment period at each level. Ellsbury, to this point, has hit every level and performed, so concerns about 2+ months of finding it at this level may be reduced.
10. Except, that is exactly what happens on DB. Gee, let's think about that. The Dodger board dumps on Boston, and vice versa, ever since the Fred stalking incident. Who would have thought about that correlation? It's good thing your post started with ignorance, because it surely ended with it.
11. Nice movement on that pitch, too bad it moved from off the plate to the center.
12. I actually don't blame Beckett there. Blue gave him no choice but to groove it. That 1-1 curve wasn't even borderline, a strike all the way. If the count goes 1-2, it's a different animal. Sometimes things everything goes right, like it is for the Yankees right now. Everyone is hitting, and pitching, and lucky, and, and, and..... Sometimes everything goes wrong, and that is the Sox right now. People are slumping, and no one is getting the timely hit, and no luck, and, and, and..... Good thing they built a cushion. Now they just need to right the ship before it's gone.
13. Jesus, where does he have to throw it, Blue?
14. Everyone on the team should replace their gloves with notepads right now so they can learn how to take advantage of a bases loaded situation, because, the way things are going, this will be a huge inning.
15. Looks like there is still some digging to do before the offense bottoms out on the futility scale.
16. I was bored a couple of weeks ago on an off-day, so I made a spreadsheet. All you have to do is enter the record for each team. It gives you the current W%, the Sox final record based on a range of W% from .700 down to .500 in increments of .025, the record the Yankees would have get to overtake them at each percentage (+1 win more than the Sox), the W% of that performance, and what that W% would be over a full season. It also has a date function that updates each time you save the file. The only problem is, it's a 20 KB file, and the site limit for .xls files is 1 KB (Excel files that small don't exist), so I can't attach it. If anyone has Excel and wants it, PM me your email address and I'll send it.
17. Well, given the way he's played this year, he certainly wouldn't have made a difference, but that wasn't the timeframe in question. You guys can't get beyond one huge inconsistency. If you are so happy he left, then why come here and stir the pot? Your actions betray the message you are trying to sell. There's nothing to rub in if you are happy he's gone. Simple as that. Now, given his horribleness this year, I can buy that you are truly coming around to not caring, but there's just no way this made you happy in the offseason. It just doesn't line up with the way you reacted. I'd do cartwheels if Coco had an opt out and took it, and you can bet your ass I wouldn't go to a board for his new team and try tell them as much. When he goes, I don't care how his new fans think about him.
18. Right, because the corner infielders have been the problem.
19. I'd do the same thing 10 times out of 10.
20. I do like Lopez vs Helton better than Snyder going after Holliday.
21. Well, Snyder is doing his part to put it out of reach. Oh well, Becks tomorrow in the rubber game. That should be two straight series wins. Anything more than winning a series is gravy.
