  1. I'd still rather have the ball to get what it fetched at auction.
  2. x2 I think the "Jeter is classy" movement stems from the NYYF psyche. It's not enough for them to cheer for the most successful team in professional sports. They have to also condescend, relentlessly sometimes, about the superiority of the Yankee "class" as well. Take a look at any Yankee fan website, this is a prevailing meme. The Jeter "class" is a fabrication born from this desire to condescend.
  3. Yes, it's stupid to have the ASG determine home field for the WS. It should go to the MLB team with the best record. So, in all fairness, it's probably going to the right team, as I don't see Philadelphia slowing down with that rotation, and I'd be shocked if they didn't win the NL pennant.
  4. No lefties available here? Washington in fine form tonight.
  5. That's going a bit far. I have no issue with loyal fans. Although, an Indian fan that talks smack should get the treatment.
  6. Hits are a part of OPS, a very minor part of a much bigger picture. RBI are a situational outcome. If Cabrera had so much more range, it would be reflected in his UZR, where Peralta leads him -2.2 to -8.0 in the range component of UZR. He is a better baserunner, but that's not enough to overcome the fact that he is inferior in the two more important categories (offense/defense).
  7. Peralta is better at offense and defense, what else do you want to look at?
  8. No, but it's pretty important. And Peralta is a better fielder, +1.4 to -4.1 by UZR.
  9. Great, another Indian in the game. It will take a baseball miracle to keep this game within reach.
  10. Did Washington select Bogar as the 3B coach?
  11. This is looking like it will be quick game.
  12. The Mentalist strikes again. What's Francona thinking right now?
  13. Is Moneyball compelling as a movie? I don't think so.

Terrible comparison. Mike Lowell was never the hitter Ortiz was, even in a bad year for Ortiz, and Ortiz is still hitting at a very high level. And, a lot of Lowell's lost value to the team came after he became a statue in the field, which isn't really an issue with Ortiz.
  15. The 1-6 will be unchanged if Crawford is hitting 2 or 6. You aren't extending anything. It's the same 6 hitters in a different sequence.
  16. Where are you getting those figures from? The 40% savings sounds a lot like fantasy. Heath Bell will be near the top of the market for closers. Actually, I don't think ERA+ is as insightful as FIP/xFIP. 2.55/3.78 for Bell 2.14/2.32 for Papelbon
  17. Maybe the lack of notice has something to do with the concept that it's premature to make a big deal of this until these guys actually do something in pro ball. You know, the same message you are given every time you splooge when the Yankees sign an IFA guy.
  18. Right, you could care less.... Very believable.
  19. With an idiotic correlation. Well done.
  20. Do you ever say anything relevant/cogent? For f***s sake, quit steaming up the screen with your mouth breathing.
  21. I have a feeling you aren't paying attention. I have only stated my opinion, you phrase your statements as cold hard fact. The onus to prove something is on you. The fact of the matter is, you "think" the lineup will be better as you envision it, so please refrain from statements that state it as irrefutable.
