  1. Yeesh, Dye up as the go ahead run. Keep it together Oki.
  2. Now there is a Dirt Dog. Erstad makes Trot look like a lolly-gagging pussy.
  3. Hung one. End the inning.
  4. Tell me about it. Although, this year, does it matter? About the only person I want up right now is Pedroia.
  5. Oh, I see, you guys were waiting to beat them. That explains the the 3-4 against them thus far. Sneaky bastards.
  6. So, you know, like, f***ing score and s***. f***ers. On another note, nice to see Dice brought the A game tonight.
  7. Iph this were a paper, I'd give it an "Ph".
  8. Are you in Tampa now, See Red? I work in Tampa, but live in Orlando (helluva commute). I won't be able to make a game until the Sep 21-23 series. Oh, and I'm going to DMB Sep 12 at the Ford Ampitheater.
  9. I would like to share my desire to put a small rodent in a bag and tie it about the head of Tony LaRussa. His OF roster usage makes no sense. He's been a strict platoon guy pretty much all year, so I sit Ankiel and Duncan against LHP. Of course, he's played them a few times as well and then sat them against RHP, which is when I start them. I've lost a number of good games from them or people who sat when I thought they were playing. LaRussa blows. Nice start for ARod2212 this week. He's got 10 bombs in 2 days.
  10. And that is consistent, so I take no issue with your stance on what is or isn't bush, Jacko.
  11. Beckett's '06 was bad, and there's a reason for it. He wasn't throwing his change at all, and his curve had no consistency because he was warming up with tape on his finger to avoid the blister issue. So his reportoire was mostly the 4-seam FB, which he had difficulty locating because he had sped up his delivery. Bad management by the coaching staff there. Fortunately, they brought in a new pitching coach who put it all together, reintroduced the change, gave him the feel for the curve back, improved what I think has been one of his more effective pitches this year, his 2-seam FB, and slowed his delivery down giving him command within the strikezone. His rate stat improvement is real for these reasons. Suggesting he could revert to '06, meaning he just ignores everything he did to become successful this year, is a big fat pile of wishful thinking on the part of Yankee fans. I'd agree with them wholeheartedly if his success this year was due to some flukey overperformance by those rate stats, but it just isn't. If anything, he should be better due to some poor luck this year should he maintain those rates. All that said, if Hanley plays like this for the next 6-7 years through his prime, then I'd take him back without question. Beckett is very good, excellent in fact, but not historically good, and Hanley has a shot at being one of the historical greats.
  12. Here's what I don't get. The guy who is calling everyone a homer here and is bringing up the quotes of all the ball players, the guy saying this is bush and not playing the right way, that guy, was full bore in support of ARod on the play in Toronto. I have seen and heard quotes from a multitude of current and former ball players and an overwhelming majority of them called that play bush. So, Mr Hypocrite, what say you regarding the unwritten rules? You espouse yourself to them so vehemently, asking the non-believers to drop the joystick and pick up a glove and bat. Why is your supposed supreme knowledge of the way the game is played so at odds on these two issues? Did you press A when you should have pressed C? Gotcha.
  13. The similarity between TB and Balitmore is this, you look at the schedule and you like your chances for a sweep if you don't see either of two names. Period.
  14. Are you kidding? The O's have two good young starters, which means they are a good young team with two good SPs. A good young team with two good starters? Hmm, who else is like that?
  15. Jesus, could you fish for a walk more Drew? Not even a thought of swinging the whole AB.
  16. Same prediction before the last TB series. Same prediction before the next too, I'd put good money on it. Same 6 times next year. He'll get it right one of these times, and do f***ing cartwheels patting himself on the back. Never run across a more pathetic individual in my life. Pure comedy.
  17. My grandmother is 85, has swollen ankles from congestive heart problems, an arthritic hip, and a balky shoulder. She's also left handed. I have no doubts she could shut the '07 Boston Red Sox down.
  18. It's not a trade deadline. July 31 is the non-waiver trade deadline. That means teams can trade players without having to pass them through waivers. From 8/1 to 8/31, a player must be passed through waivers prior to being traded.
  19. I scoff at WPA for pitchers more than QS. Quality starts are important, but I find the criteria a little arbitrary. You can make cases for 4 runs in 8, or 2 in 5.2, etc, etc. What's wrong with just the traditional rates supplemented by the component performance. Nothing arbitrary there. The numbers are what they are.
  20. Stating you like WPA because you think QS is an important stat is like me saying vanilla ice cream is better than chocolate because it's Tuesday.
